Android - Incompatible with all my devices

Just to close this off, if you canā€™t see the option to download the Android app, please check that your device has Play Protect certification. If it doesnā€™t, unfortunately you wonā€™t be able to download the app at the moment.

Ah you beat me to it @Freetrade_Team1

For the benefit of anyone else with this - I have an unlocked bootloader, but Iā€™ve not rooted my device.

Due to the fact its unlocked, its not considered certified by play store, so some apps (including freetrade) dont show as compatible it seems.

Iā€™ll lock my bootloader later this evening and try again & let you know how it goes.

Sorry if this is covered elsewhere ā€“ first post here and very new to this.

Android user wondering about the status of the Android app. WHen I see it in the Google Play thing, it says ā€œyour device isnā€™t compatible with this versionā€ ā€“ is that because the app hasnā€™t launched yet, or is it actually something I need to see about on my device?

Thanks all,

SW

Hey Stephen, welcome to the community

And donā€™t worry about asking questions that might have been answered elsewhere. Iā€™ve moved your post here because weā€™ve shared some details about what you should check when youā€™re seeing that message.

I hope this helps, if youā€™re still stuck please feel free to ask!

Thanks for this. Iā€™m on Android 6, I think, which (disappointingly) means that my device isnā€™t compatible. Is there a reason for this? Other Fintech providers donā€™t seem to have this requirementā€¦

Iā€™m sorry to hear that :pensive:

The short answer is that as a startup, unfortunately we have limited resources & since relatively few Freetrade users are on versions below 7.0, weā€™ve decided not to support them at the moment.

Weā€™ve explained that decision in some more detail here - Android waitlist app sneak preview - #17 by greg.

I am not able to install freetrade app i got 2 android phones one older another newer both have no problems with apps before . Allways in google play it shows your device is not compitable with this version or something like this :smirk: Priority for freetrade would be make app work on any android phone otherwise they gone loose potential users because soon we gone see dezero in UK as well ā€¦ :slightly_smiling_face:

The app only works for phones with version Android 7.0 and above.

Thank you for info .

Hello,

Unfortunately I can not seem to install the freetrade app on my Oneplus5t.

I am getting the error that my device is incompatible.

Hi Max, Iā€™m sorry to hear that. Iā€™ve moved your post over to this thread because weā€™ve shared some more details about what to check here. In particular, this might be whatā€™s stopping you from downloading the app?

  1. Unlocked bootloader has nothing to do with it. Your current ROM doesnā€™t pass SafetyNet checks.
  2. Download an app that check SafetyNet status, for example https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.scottyab.safetynet.sample. You can also check from Magisk Manager, if you have that installed.
  3. Both ctsProfie and BasicIntegrity checks have to succeed for Freetrade to work. Most custom roms based on LineageOS will fail the first test. If you want a custom rom, choose one thatā€™s based of stock firmware.
  4. If you want root, flash Magisk and install Magisk Manager, then just select Freetrade in the Magisk Hide section. Works for me.

Just a quick update, weā€™re planning to relax our restrictions on Android phones next week, hereā€™s some more details -

Hello everyone. I got Honor 8, Android 7, CTS certified. Freetrade still not availiable. Any suggestions on what to to check next?

Hi, have you checked the localisation of the play store? As far as I know it still limited to UK only.

As of today (and few hours back), my app doesnā€™t work. It says I ā€œhave toā€ update and play store says my device isnā€™t compatible and that I have to contact the developer.
Please could you avoid such massive ā€œcatch 22ā€ situations when the app is only accessible though phone?
(Still donā€™t understand why web version isnā€™t supported. Seems a lot like a subjective non data based decision someone high up made and is too stubborn to stand down. Or I could have read too much into this haha).

I too canā€™t download the app, says device incompatible, mine is android version 8,play certificate is present.
