Arrival Group - ARVLF - Share Chat

You mean the ones that are converted diesel buses? I don’t think there’s any electric manufacturer buses in use but I stand to be corrected.

Given Arrival see the UK as their primary market for their buses I’d it strange if there was already an established big player in the city and we hadn’t heard of them. I wasn’t aware of dedicated (non-pilot) EV buses in circulation other than the boris bus hybrids and the odd “technology prototype” retrofit type driven as a pilot. As with Dave, happy to be proven wrong, but if they were good I’d imagine First group would have been all over them…

It’s a Chinese company but forgive me as I don’t know the name

BYD probably - https://bydeurope.com/

Rings a bell.

If it is byd I don’t think is it in London  I may be wrong but thought it was mainly Chinese based :flushed:

It’s got a European subsidiary based in the Netherlands and a UK subsidiary in Buckinghamshire (this appears to be more like a joint venture with Alexander Dennis limited).

That news article linked above is about a 195 bus order they got from TfL last year.

Seem to be doing alright across Europe with other orders in Amsterdam, Madrid, Ankara and Turin listed on their website

Not being from London I wasn’t aware there was another bus or any electric buses actually in London or over here yet!

That’s interesting

Some good news on the van certification

Yes it’s Byd, strangely enough my toddler watches these little YouTube videos and one was about buses (Google Gecko on YouTube if you want to find out more) but one of the videos shows a stage coach type bus which is a hybrid and I noticed the BYD logo. Again someone mentioned a diesal hybrid so it may be that but for sure it was not a pure electric! For those that may not know, BYD makes electric cars in China I think? I have seen mention online of the BYD blade battery and apparently Warren Buffet is a big investor but I’m sure others can tell me more. Oh the bus was an Arriva Bus (company) bus too which I thought was ironic considering the similarity in name to Arvl!

Update:

Here’s the link! The video of it mentioning electrical is around around 1:34 and 6:06, and it seems that it’s fully electric!

London’s bus contracted fleet total includes 785 Electric buses, 22 Fuel Cell buses and 3,854 Hybrid buses. And TFL btw has had fully electrically buses in its contracted fleet since 2014. Today just under 10% of the fleet is fully electrical.

I don’t think people are reading the news article I linked above, which was in response to Samanthas post above about an electric bus competitor, I’ll just relink the news article from above and quote the main section referred to in terms of full electric buses, they state 700 of them - BYD UK and Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL) jointly confirmed today that their electric vehicle partnership, the UK’s leading electric bus producer, will deliver the UK’s largest ever electric bus order. The order has been placed by RATP Dev London, one of Transport for London (TfL)’s principal bus operators, for a total of 195 single and double deck vehicles.

The record order comes as the BYD ADL partnership continues to go from strength to strength, just five years after it was launched, thanks to its proven combination of BYD’s world-class battery electric driveline technology and ADL’s British-built bodies, which can be fully customised to reflect operating requirements. In London alone, over 400 BYD ADL electric buses have cumulatively covered over 20 million zero-emission miles, with close to another 300 vehicles on order including this latest intake for RATP Dev London. RATP Dev London will be the largest operator of electric buses in London by the beginning of 2022, with close to 25% of its London United and London Sovereign fleet fully electric.

As @bitflip states above from the TfL data - Bus fleet data & audits - Transport for London
It also has a spreadsheet listing operational buses, 652 of the 785 electric buses are listed as BYD (Enviro EV) upto the 31st March 2022
This spreadsheet also lists the equivalent diesel hybrids also being mentioned.

Hopefully the notion of BYD as a significant competitor is more clear

I’ve known about it for circa 6 months. I’m not from the city myself but bearing in mind I live in Sussex, the city isn’t hard to get to, should the need arise.

I’ve seen these busses in action and had to mention it.

Found this really interesting, don’t think it’s been shared here: #253: Avinash Rugoobur of Arrival — Autonocast

The European Parliament has voted to set a 2035 deadline for zero-emissions cars and vans – a significant step forward for climate action, air quality and the affordability of electric vehicles.

Bad day/week across the board. It’s not just arrival. Most stock has dropped a good 5%. I had a bit of spare money so brought a few more stocks inc arrival and brought average share price down. I’m at 1.60 now on arrival on about 400 odd shares. Nothing too full on. But in a nice place if it grows. I’m a patient chap. I’ll see where this one goes over the next few years. Add to it now and again.

Is that £1.60 or $1.60

What’s the best to judge AVG when in a different currency? Stick with currency? Is that even a worthy question or stupid lol
