As one of the original 143 investor who invested in round 1 and round 2, I have not been able to use the Freetrade app due my work and compliance restrictions. Fast forward today, I no longer work in banking and decided to download the Freetrade app as I want to invest in a particular AIM stock.
First bug I noticed was that before I finished entering my date of birth, it continues to the next page and I keep having to click back a few times before my birth date was correct. Next I went to the what is your nationality section, entering United Kingdom and then my NI number and next seeing “something went wrong Please try again”.
You can say I do have a lots of experience with online broker. If after 8 years of investing in Freetrade I am seeing such ridiculous error,then it is not worthy of my time. You get see to see such errors, when you apply for a loan and there is a mysterious error 702 or whatever or before online banking you try to open a bank account and the bank can’t somehow find your application.
Good luck Freetrade, I will pass on using the app but Freetrade success is my success as I am investor.
I mean, you could just report the issue with the app for opening an account and leave it there. It’s a legitimate problem although you could have mentioned which phone, OS, app version, etc. which would have been useful to the app team in tracking down the issue.
All your background detail of who you are and what you’ve done is meaningless, adds nothing and frankly comes across as posturing. Nobody cares about the other accounts you have, how much money you have or anything else.
Yes, I could but I don’t have too. There are choices. If after 8 years I can’t get a welcome to freetrade and I have to apps details etc ? For what? I have seen errors so many time and hence the background details.
If you don’t report it it can’t be fixed. Android has countless hardware variations and countless OS variations to account for so best option if you’ve not done so already would be to report the bug.
Maybe @acamp or someone will be able to pick up your thread here on Monday and hopefully it’s a simply fix.
Software issues happen, it can be very frustrating for sure.
Just venting but it is pretty annoying where there always extra requirement. I wanted to open an account thinking I will be done in less than 15 mins and I am getting something went wrong. What exactly went wrong . Am the first person since Freetrade started to have provided my name, address, nationality and NI number, so this broke the system? Or maybe they don’t open new accounts on Saturday. How am I supposed to have confidence in the platform if I am already seeing error before seeing Welcome to Freetrade?
Like I said it happens quite often, I remember once trying to order so shirts for work online. Total couldn’t be more than £120, after placing the order I received an email saying I should call them. What is the problem? They wanted to know that I am happy with the order. Happy how? I placed the order, I wouldn’t have placed it if I wasn’t happy and why am I using my money to call you?
I cancelled the order there are other stores where I can buy shirts.Do they send email to everyone who place an order to call them?
Venting over, error could be innocent but I have moved on. I remembered afterwards that I do have an account with HL for pension, so should be able to buy stocks on that platform. One customer less for Freetrade but hope they beat their targets. But if you want those numbers to increase then Saturday is a non working day when might want to open an account.
Also would have thought IT should be monitoring the platform to know when it is down or not.
Sorry to hear about this experience. If you can DM me some further details about the email address you’re using and the app version then we can investigate this for you (although I appreciate you’ve said you’re not interested in this, I thought I’d offer still ).
Have you previously used your NI number with Freetrade even if it was to open an account just to look around but not invest (due to your prior professional life)?
