Posh mixer brand Franklin & Sons has teamed up with Red Leg rum for a new RTD

The cocktail (5% abv) is billed as “a beautiful blend of spiced Red Leg rum, infused with vanilla and ginger, perfectly paired with Franklin & Sons 1886 Cola and a twist of lime”

It drew inspiration ”from the unique flavour combinations first explored by the Franklin family back in Victorian Britain, the 1886 Cola includes west African kola nut and Colombian coffee beans, adding a unique twist to everyone’s favourite, the classic rum and cola”, said Franklin & Sons brand manager Rosie Crossman.

The RTD has rolled into the Co-op in 250ml cans.

It marks the latest in a series of collaborative RTDs from the Global Brands-owned mixer, which has launched gin & tonic RTDs with the likes of Portobello Road Gin, Caorunn and Manchester Raspberry Gin.

Distil Plc Trading update
Distil plc (AIM: DIS), owner of premium drinks brands RedLeg Spiced Rum, Blackwoods Gin and Vodka, Blavod Black Vodka, Jago’s Cream Liqueur and Diva Vodka, is pleased to provide an update on trading for the first quarter of its current financial year.
Unaudited year-on-year first quarter (April - June 2019) revenues decreased by 20% and volumes decreased by 15%.
"Our UK sales are below last year, which had seen growth of 27% versus the previous year, mainly due to fewer promotional slots and poor weather through the quarter especially when compared to 2018. This affected, in particular, our spiced rum sales. Our Distribution remains strong. We have new promotional activities planned for the remainder of this financial year.

Don Goulding Executive Chairman, commenting on these results said:
“We experienced trading challenges in our core markets, particularly the UK unflavoured gin market where we had fewer promotions and retail distribution declined by approximately one hundred outlets, during the six months to 30 September 2019. By contrast the spiced rum market continued to enjoy good year-on-year growth during the period.
Whilst we expectfurthergrowth in the spiced rum marketwe anticipatefurthersoftening of the unflavoured gin category into the foreseeable future. Despite these headwinds we remain confident in our strategy of investment in marketing support to our brands, coupled with new product innovation, to deliver growth over the medium term
We look forward to the retail availability and promotional support of RedLeg Caramelised Pineapple Spiced Rum in five hundred outlets and RedLeg ready-to-drink in three hundred stores in Q3.
To reduce and offset the risk of interruption to product supply we have increased our stock of raw materials given the uncertainty of materials and supplies movement in the EU post Brexit

Could be a recovery stock? Please add

Never tried it but seems to sell well in the supermarkets, shelves always empty. Cant understand the low share price but maybe a great addition to someone’s portfolio.
