FinKi 'live' LSE Share Price API Test

Any one wanting to see ā€˜live’ LSE prices should head to

https://finki.io/finkiPrice.php?ticker=IHP

(*not actually ā€˜live’ as would break all manner of laws!)

and change the ticker accordingly.

ie

https://finki.io/finkiPrice.php?ticker=GGP

or

https://finki.io/finkiPrice.php?ticker=VCP

No API key required for ā€œtestingā€

The returned Bid/Ask attempts to factor in the historical ā€œprice improvementā€ RSPs will give subject to time of day, liquidity, turnover etc…

It’s 91.52% (^) accurate and is really meant to be a guide.
(^ that’s made up!)

If you look at official market spreads… then look at this… then execute a trade… you’ll see (hopefully) this API was a much better indication of what you actually executed at!

Works best with wide spread, low liquidity stocks (GGP, VCP etc…)

Best of luck!

Enjoy!

EDIT:
Known issues:
2 character Tickers… ie. HL or BP
SETSqx during auctions…will return a price…but not the uncrossing price… (yet!)

Thank you…all those that are testing… valuable info found…

No, you can’t throw Nasdaq tickers at it! It’s for the LSE only
(I can see you trying!)

Yes, VOD is a little slow… it’s because of the depth of historical data that the alogrithm looks at…
https://finki.io/finkiPrice.php?ticker=VOD
Slow, but works… (most the time!!!)

It won’t work for FCEL, AAPL, MSFT etc… only LSE stocks…
(I’m watching you )

This is very cool. How can I integrate this into my Google Sheet? It’d be great to see live prices on my holdings without having to check the app.

Will this be extended for US stocks too?

To integrate into G Sheet follow the example on Welcome to FinKi… but you’ll need additional parses to split bid and ask… you’ll crack it…

Yes, might do US … need to ā€œcrackā€ all LSE stocks… lots of failures this afternoon… lots of bugs to fix

Thanks for testing

Will eventually put this behind the required api ā€œkeyā€ … but for testing no key required

Enjoy!

Please remember it’s not actually ā€œliveā€ … it’s a prediction based on bit of historic data, magic and a bit of luck!

But…on a low liquidity, wide spread stock… it’s ā€œprobablyā€ closer to any price you’ll see in any trading app (maybe! unproven!)

:mask:

It will also go nuts around 4:30 today when the LSE closes. But some stocks will go to auction…some will trade for a few minutes after 16:30 …so it get’s confused… poor thing. It’ll learn !!!

This is great, thanks FinKi!

Be aware of it’s limitations.
It’s a beta version.
There are LOTS of bugs.
But please test it. The more data the better. I’ll try and fix them shortly.

It looks like a good extra reference to look at next to other data sources.
Will report back if I see any issues!
