Marcus by Goldman Sachs

I day notice is instant enough for me.

Now down to 0.80

There is a 0.93% one with Monzo

Okay will take a look. Does Marcus have a UK app? When I just checked on Google play it says not available in your country.

Sadly the app is only available in the US

Which is one of the reason I stuck with the 1.15% in Monzo and will move to the 0.93% one

No app, but the website is built well for mobile. Open it up and save it to your home screen, youā€™ll get an icon that opens a web app window for Marcus.

Yes I was thinking of going down that route, thanks for confirming.

Another drop to 1.05%. Tempted to move some more emergency fund to premium bonds now.

Iā€™m keeping about 3 months worth of emergency savings in Marcus and any other cash savings in Premium Bonds.

Instant access is still the front line feature for me

Can I ask why you value having app access and lower interest compared to web access and higher interest?

I have actually moved to them now  after Monzo dropped my rate even the new 1.05% was an improvement.

No more new customers due to regulation. It makes regulation feel onerous, but maybe thatā€™s the cost for having the government insure your deposits up to Ā£85k.

The regulations are more to do with the politicians reacting to media fearmongering about ā€˜casino bankingā€™ rather than anything to do with the Ā£85k limit.

Itā€™s also one of the reasons why UK savings rates have been lower than otherwise - as the big banks canā€™t use their capital for the reasons they used to - so donā€™t need deposits as much

Canā€™t say this wasnā€™t expectedā€¦ If anything to me this means deploying more cash on freetrade over the foreseeable future :man_shrugging:

ā€¦and hopefully more people signing up on freetrade!

A shame but still probably one of the best savings accounts out there for instant access.

Chip is going to be 1.25% account soon

Atom is better as they support instant withdrawals. I think they offer 0.75% still.

Thatā€™s when you refer a new user and itā€™s from their marketing budget. Dozens do the same, and offer 5% but itā€™s not as straight forward because of the bidding process and how that works.
