The Smurfit Kappa Group plc is Europe’s leading corrugated packaging company and one of the leading paper-based packaging companies in the world. It is listed on the FTSE 100. Currently has a dividend yield around 4.7%.

Two directors invested at the decreased share price:
You wouldn’t think of a packaging company as resilient in the current crisis, but its sales grew in Europe and the Americas during the first three months of 2020 (although profits were down). Part of the reason might be that Smurfit Kappa’s products are used to package drugs, food, and more, so there is a strong business-to-business aspect. The current rise of e-commerce and takeaways must help its business too.
The bad news is, the full-year dividends are cancelled.
This is not a recommendation in any way, but good to see a company that’s doing reasonably and its directors have faith in. Always do your own research.
