Is it possible to open an account that can only trade specific instruments (for example ETF’s only) ?

There is no restriction on the investment types for an account.
You can just choose to only invest in ETF’s if you wish though.
Just curious - why would you want a restriction on the types of investment you can hold in your account?

Really interested in what work would need that but allow ETFs as they could be any shares 
A friend of mine at one of the big 5 banks just had to declare each year if they have investments and once in a while would need to show an account statement to prove certain individual holdings did not exist, especially in their bank.
