Hello,
I would like to know if I can use the same link to refer a friend abroad (France) and also how it would affect my Freetrade account were I to move to France?
Thank you

I too would be keen to know if it’s possible for UK users to refer friends abroad (ie NL, France, etc). If you refer a friend and they sign up for the waitinglist, can you still get a free share?
Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere but this is the only mentioned I could find for international referrals.
Seems like three different questions in here.
I would like to know if I can use the same link to refer a friend abroad (France)
Current: Technically, yes, you can share your link. There is no geo-restriction for the app, but you are supposed to be a UK resident in order to register and start using it. As a result, your friend may not be able to complete the authorisation process if they are not a tax resident in the UK.
Future: Freetrade will expand to overseas countries, including France, so it may be the case that you can refer overseas friends from your UK account. But it may be region-restricted. We’ll find out in the future.
how it would affect my Freetrade account were I to move to France?
Freetrade is a UK-based service. It might be better to use local equivalents, or the French version of Freetrade after it launches. Account migrations to the overseas versions of Freetrades are probably pretty low down the to-do list, but will probably happen someday. Again, not really clear right now.

Your friend needs to complete the account verification process and fund their account before you can receive a free share. So if they sign up to the waiting list it isn’t quite enough to qualify for the free share.
But tying in to my first answer, cross-border referrals after the international versions of FT open up is unclear, but will definitely be a nice-to-have. @Freetrade_Team Any ideas about that?
Thanks for taking the time to explore these questions.
To expand on my thinking -
Assuming Freetrade will reward international referrals with a free share in the future - if I refer to somebody in France now, they can’t sign up or fund their account yet but can join a waiting list. Once Freetrade open in France, and my referral comes off the waiting list, goes through account verification and funds their account - will they still be linked to my referral or is that referral then void because they signed up through the waiting list?
Essentially, will I be able to prove that my friend signed up because of my referral?
I can’t answer for Freetrade, but speaking from a technical point of view, it’s unlikely that you will be credited for it as it’s another system. Might be better to wait until there is an official answer though.
When is France Freetrade going to be fully functioning?
