Topping up via app

I hope someone can help. Previously when I topped up my Freetrade account from my linked Nationwide account TrueLayer would open the Nationwide banking app on my phone, where I could easily verify with biometrics to approve the transfer. For the last couple of months however when topping up it now opens my browser on the Nationwide page where I have to log in and approve with the card reader.

This is a real faff and I much prefer the old method. How can I get either app to behave like this again?

Is this Android? If so, in the settings menu, select the Apps sub menu, search for your banking app, select the option ‘Open by default’ and allow the app to open supported links.

Options and menus may have other names depending on Android version.
