What rate was achieved today please?
Mine is still queued
4.125% today
Crikey that’s come down over the fortnight.
Chase have a boosted 4.8% savers account. I’ll be pulling all my money from treasury bills now
I’ll be looking for the UK next inflation figure. If its not near the EUs 2.2% then I will have reevaluate.
It’s down because Big Andy said a few days ago he’ll cut rates due to tariff disruption and it’s likely this will happen at the next MPC meeting (8th May - a few days’ time)
Therefore this treasury bill has to come at least a few basis points below 4.25%. Assuming 25 basis point rate cut
And if people think he’s going to cut again soon, then we’re going sub 4% pretty soon
So we have Trump to thank for these accelerated rate cuts .
Sectors to benefit - Property and infrastructure?
Interesting that markets rallied after the NFP data at 13:30 today with yields rising again, could put a damperer on rate cuts?
Well property and equities in general benefit from rate cuts because you are reducing the risk free rate
It’s all going to depend on how big the hit is to the UK economy and what happens with inflation. Non farm payrolls number yesterday is US data not UK. They’ve had mixed data though, they could still have a summer recession but it’s not certain yet.
4.09% this morning …
Risk free 4% is not to be sniffed out, wonder how rates will settle from here.
4.15% this morning (up a little from last week)
Oh that is good!! Was tempted to start one this week but held off due to recent decline in short rates.
