This is amazing news! I wonder how long before we can start buying fractionals again.

The article of the post is quite interesting, full of details on how you own the shares you buy.

Good work team, nice bit of exposure too…

The FT reported it could be as early as September 30. I hope this is true so I can get a small holding on Nvidia, Eli Lilly and Samsung. I already feel like I’m missing out on the dip or market correction going on at the moment.

Fractionals are great for big price shares. I would like to get Hermès fractionals since it cost €1,943.50 a share. But european stocks don’t have that enabled.

Still increasing my full share of Lockheed Martin to a second share will be possible with fractionals being enabled again. I don’t always have the money to share to buy it in full.

The phrase ‘some’ shares makes this not as clear cut as it seems.

Has anyone experienced not being able to trade US fractional share in an ISA. I can trading fractional shares in a GIA without any problem.

Hi @packie welcome to the community.

As you can read on this thread, Freetrade suspended fractional shares transactions. This has to do with HMRC previous view that said that fractional shares were not allowed on ISAs. To avoid potential fines/litigations, Freetrade suspended this feature, but campaigned to allow it. Since then, the new government has reviewed the rules and clarified that should be allowed. Freetrade will eventually allow this back. We are waiting for an official confirmation from Freetrade.

I’m hoping it will be the 30th September as The Financial Times has reported as a possible date for fractional shares to be allowed in law.

share lending is a joke, they want you to risk your shares for 0.2% pe rmonth

That doesn’t affect ISA’s know. And you can opt out of it which I’m already am.

The 0.20% is an average and much higher for some shares. Also, where is the risk, Freetrade are covering any potential losses no?

Looks like they are getting ready for us to buy fractionals again. Probably still have to wait until it has passed into law. But still cool to see it again. :squid:

It will be nice to have fractional shares back in the ISA.

Agree I have held back buying full shares on berkshire but that’s the one I’ll be buying fracts of so I have cash for other stocks :sunglasses:

Sold my single T-Bill so I’m ready to buy. Just hope there isn’t many weeks left to wait. Feels like I missed out on the dip early this month.

Yeah that decent dip we had although I bought a few things and managed to spread out a share or two into each before it perked back up again. I managed to buy right at the bottom but I had plenty dollah left. You always hit yourself don’t you and now it might be some time until we see those lows again.

Although I’m not good at knowing that kind of stuff but I just know with interest cuts stocks rise usually.

Were you waiting the 28 days or did you have it on recurring for months?
