I miss the pink …
Are you reporting on a snooker match you are playing in?
I can’t see the pockets so well now …
Guess that’s what the dip was when I bought yesterday just unfortunate timing hehe
British ISA scrapped by government
I read that first as all ISAs were scrapped!
And then everyone in the streets! LoL
Not a bad thing really to scrap this scheme. I still never figured out why we actually needed a BISA in the first place.
This is bad, particularly given their support for the idea prior to the election:
“Labour has no plans to drop the British Isa,” a spokesman told City AM. “Labour wants to make it as easy as possible for people to feel the benefits of saving and investing their money, including through increased utilisation of stocks and shares Isas.”
I wasn’t in favour of the British ISA and the scrapping of it was the right move.
However at this point what ever Labour said before the election I think it is safe to say it is best to ignore. They have made so many U-Turns they could sell roundabouts by the amount they have created in their short time in office.
Wasn’t in favour of separate account. Should have been integrated into standard ISA and was a good opportunity to save and invest more. At this rate rate be lucky if they don’t slash the allowances.
I can also see them reducing the isa allowance tbh, I think in the current governments mind anyone who can put £20k a year away is one of the broad shoulders who can afford to pay a bit more tax on their savings. After the winter fuel allowance nothing would surprise me.
Is that not true though?
I haven’t checked the numbers but having £20k of extra income to save per year must put people into the top 10% if not 1% right? (Sure there will be niche exceptions but in broad strokes…)
If I really tried I can save 850 a month on a factory op wage like near min wage. So surely anyone with a mid range wage like 35k a year or something could.
I mean it all depends on circumstances I have no kids etc but others might amd also you need to be good with your money which the majority aren’t.
Their moto is “I’m skint” (I know some say their skint but actully have cash)
I hear this from offshore workers, engineers and randoms I always wonder why but anyway lol
35k post tax is about 28k. If you saved 20k that would leave you with 8k per year for food, shelter, transport, council tax, power etc etc… I’m not convinced that’s doable… Maybe if you live mortgage fully paid off, in a house with a big cottage garden and solar it’s doable… But in that situation your doing ok anyway…
Sure some people are bad with money, but having 20k a year you can just save makes you quite well off.
I think if i was to save that amount in wages each month into an isa i would change and put into into a pension to get the 20% that would mean £1020 a month saved 12k a year!!
But realistically u wont want to put all in a pension as uwould want access for emergencies etc
How do you work that out?
20% of 20K is 4K
