Budget 2021

With the upcoming budget I thought I’d start a new topic. What are peoples thoughts and predictions of what the Chancellor has in store for the economy and the impact this will have.

I can see corporation tax being increased but only slightly as Rishi won’t want to go hard on small businesses. Prehaps he will start the eat out to help out scheme again or something similar.

I can also see support for green energy and subsidies being increased which ultimately means taxing carbon emissions more.

I don’t see him touching National Insurance contributions which I suspect will stay the same.

CGT and inheritance is a way for the treasury to raise finance. So I do expect changes here. Rishi might go after pensions.

I think there will be an extension of SDLT holiday

Public sector pay freezes (NHS exemptions).

Finally, lets all expect increases on fuel duty, alcohol and cigarettes.
