Dividend Yields / Payments

Each individual stock should have a dividend yield or ex-dividend history applied to it in the information section, so i could compare each stocks worthiness as im considering only investing in dividend paying stocks.

This is a big need for investors that are looking at dividends when making decisions.

Totally agree. I also think the average yield of your portfolio would be a nice thing to see.

Good suggestion. I’m not going down this road personally, but I know dividends are important to some people. Our of interest, what attracts you to dividend stocks rather than companies that reinvest their profits?

…and, once you’ve bought the stock, the upcoming dates :grinning: :+1:

In my case: You never know when a company is going to be at its top so you don’t know when is the right time to sell. Also, a good company will still reinvest part of its money and not give everything out as dividend.

Furthermore, dividends will give me the freedom to invest in other companies. Imagine that Amazon goes under in a few years (doubtful but possible), then the dividends that I could have had these good years would still be stuck in the company.

Thanks for this, that’s all very reasonable. I always get a good feeling when companies pay out dividends, but it’s not really something that influences my investment decision.

I was wondering if anyone has heard of the dividendmax website?? You can sign up to a free email notification feature which will email you a small card with details about your upcoming dividend payments etc. All you have to do is pick all the stocks in your portfolio, enter the number of shares and that’s it!! Simple!!
