[Feature Request 🔧] JISA - Junior ISA 👶🏻 💷

Voted. It would be great to have it for my kids.

Agree with all the comments here. A Junior ISA would be a brilliant feature and something I would really like to see in Freetrade.

I am a strong advocate for JISAs on Freetrade - not only as a user, but also as an investor.

AFAIK there are no other digital companies offering JISAs today, and even my legacy banking provider does not offer them. IMO there is a tremendous market opportunity for this right now, and could create an additional USP, parallel customer acquisition funnel, and some additional revenue. Though I get that this would be a UK-only feature, and as such not a priority given pan-EU and eventual global focus.

I’ve got JISA’s for my kids with wealthify but I would rather use Ft if it came available.

If I were to move my SIPP and ISA over, id still be having to pay additional fees for my children’s JISA with my current provider.

This reduces the appeal of moving just my ISA and SIPP over since it could end up costing me more if I go with a Freetrade plus account and fees for my JISA with another broker.

Hope to see this come shortly after SIPPs

Yup, another +1 here for a JISA. Maybe we will learn more with FT+?

Hi Freetrade,

Congrats on the progress thus far! I have been a long-term fan of FT and excited to see the platform scales up quickly and well-aligned with user requests.

I am very keen to transfer my family ISAs to FT, but we have a few Junior ISA accounts attached to ours. So when can FT accommodate Junior ISA too?

Many thanks,
Trung

I have just opened one with Wealthify which is cheaper than others and has no minimum. Its decent for now, would sure love an FT option.

This is one issue for me - FT really need to offer the basics ISA/LISA/JISA - and stop people from being forced to open accounts with other companies. I don’t want an HL account - but I have no choice as it stands.

Same. It is very frustrating using HL for junior isa.

Invariably the kids get small cash presents from relatives etc and it would be ideal to place into a Junior ISA where transaction fees are eliminated. It’s basically not worth making a trade on HL unless it is >£500 as the fees are disproportionately big.

I would like brand loyalty to Freetrade but need full range of Isa types to make it possible to concentrate on FT

Offtopic but don’t people worry about JISAs because the child gets access to all the money at 18? The general preference among my friends with kids is to save in their own ISAs and then gift as a appropriate. So that the kid doesn’t get £10k up front and splurge it on Moncler and Canada Goose :joy:.

I think a feature they would prefer would be “buckets” i.e the ability to section off money within the same ISA. So instead of a JISA you would have your own ISA and a Freetrade made “bucket” named ‘Kids money’ to separate that investment strategy from your own.

It’s a risk but I hope to educate kids so they hold it for long term and think shares are easier to do that with than straight cash. Putting it in my ISA is a option but I don’t think it helps to teach them how to use money wisely in the long run

I think the JISA does not form part of your estate for inheritance tax purposes whereas your ISA does.
