Strange, I never recall ever mentioning Bitcoin! Why pick one crypto and ignore the majority that fail and lose money as an example?
And 100% is BS, 100% who have it today may be true but not 100% who bought it. The 4 year part is a better example👍
Crypto and NFT etc are the wild west and anyone claiming otherwise is not being 100% honest. Yes you can make money, good money, but it also mostly fails and often big time.
Because Freetrade has stated previously that if they were to offer crypto it would be Bitcoin, Ethereum and maybe a few others(unspecified).
Freetrade was never going to offer random meme coins.
Its factually true, at the time I posted it was at an all time high. Now its 99% if you want to be pedantic…
This was your quote and is not true. I lost money buying Bitcoin, tiny volumes, so my point was that it is only true if you still held today only. That is why I gave credit for the 4 year comment.
And the FT part about what coins they would only do, I have never seen before.
As could any share you own on Freetrade and we have seen happen recently in lots of high profile stocks…
This is one of the sillyest things i’ve read on this forum. Not even close to being correct.
Ok my bad, I meant 100% who have bought and held.
I hope Freetarde do eventually roll out Crypto once it becomes more regulated, its the future.
That doesn’t mean everyone who ever bought it is in profit or even everyone holding now, maybe everyone who bought and held without ever selling
Yes as I said above, I meant to say bought and held.
So again what actual use is bitcoin?
Go on?
Not really interested in having a debate with someone who quite clearly doesn’t want to understand.
It has massively outperformed all other asset classes, if you want to miss out on the potential gains that’s for you to decide.
Not quite true is it? Some has but many have failed miserably. I do agree though that it is a worthwhile gamble for many. Personally, I am not against crypto and have dipped my toes but it is not for me.
Crypto is more like mining stocks which I do like but have reduced most. Some will make you lots and others are a money pit.
Problem is people make statements that are not balanced both ways. It is not a scam and it is not fool proof either. Just high risk and as the saying goes “high risk = high reward” if you win.
57 now baby, unless siip is diff but it will just keep going up anyways
Simple enough question.
What is the point of it?
How can you call it an investment?
You are virtually buying fresh air.
I assume you agree with that as you are not prepared to offer an explanation.
There’s multiple threads in the forum about Bitcoin if you want to educate yourself.
I use it as a store of value, as its the best performing asset over the last 5, 10, 15 years.
Many use it for remittance, especially in less developed countries. A growing number of people use it to escape hyper inflation (Venezuela, Argentina, Nigeria). Some people use it for daily transactions.
None of this is new, your argument is just lazy at this point.
Very valid point, bitcoin and ether have greatly inflated the performance.
Its the only financial instrument that’s not controlled by a third party, years and years of endless money printing is continually devaluing fiat currency.
It has both negative and positive uses. As you pointed out above, it can be bad, but it also serves good purposes such as financial inclusion and improving payment efficiency. However, it is not so different from paper, which also has both negative and positive uses
It’s value appears to be volatile to say the least.
If it was used for normal payments, to buy a car for instance you could find that that you have hyper inflation followed by severe deflation.
How does it facilitate financial inclusion?
True i am a non believer, Cryptosceptic if you like but the point its not backed by a government i always saw as negative but i dont live in a third world country with a tin pot dictator with an economy suffering from hyper inflation wher keeping money in the bank is less safe than hiding it under the bed. Look at Chinese real estate who thought that buying bricks and motar would be the worst decision they could make. SO DOES MAKE YOU THINK!!
