Megathread - Crowdfunding

A few years ago if you wanted to open a cafe it’d be pitched as a ‘Bespoke artisinal coffee experience powered by Blockchain Technology’.
Now it’d be ‘Personalised ethical bererages enabled by generative AI’
No matter how generic the product you’re selling, add the magic buzz word of the day and hope someone bites.

Do they still serve “Web 3.0 Cloud cappuccinos” at these places?

Yep,AI is good n has its benefits n dangers. The AI product is optional for those who want it.
AI is here to stay, even if we don’t like it,so we might as well use it for good.
I have seen a lot of AI products in Crypto in different forms, generating images, choosing investments, doing d actual investments, even coding now.Its been going on in crypto last 2 years, always generates d owners a lot of funds ,in millions, still they run away with d money,as lots of them unfortunately lack honesty or commitment.

Are you having a laugh? Emma are worse than Plum. The 2 that invested in were Snoop and MoneyDashboard

What’s wrong with Emma?

Last I heard they had loads of runway, due to keeping their team small and not getting carried away in the covid boom.

And what happened to Money dashboard

I couldn’t make the Finisterre investor call today but saw the email summary. Anything extra from the call and any thoughts on how they sounded? Any estimates on an exit?

Fantastic news about the new store Opening in Maine, they also have a very experienced ex Patagonia guy.

Within both of those areas of growth, North America is a key priority and we’ve been making great progress. We hired Chris Evans as our General Manager in December. Chris has a huge amount of experience including being the ex Commercial Director of Patagonia’s surf division. He understands our market and customer incredibly well and has been laying the foundations for the year ahead at great pace. We now have a sales team based out of the Pacific Northwest; and we’re seeing a huge amount of excitement for the brand from the very best retailers.

I reckon an exit in 2-3 years

I put a small amount in Finisterre, so I’m not going to make a fortune off it. but from the email it looks good. I didn’t watch the investor call either.

Looks like another potential winner. My hit rate on crowdfunding is surprisingly good. so far only two are bankrupt, I’ve had two wins, one exit at break even, and I’m quietly confident about Finsterre, Freetrade (obviously), Graphene Composites and Nanusens

I’m still not planning on any more crowdfunding as it ties up money for too long and the wins haven’t been big enough to justify the risk so far, I’ve had better returns from large listed companies

THIS! had a Series C funding round (£20m) - mix of new shares and secondary: Planet First Partners Invests £20mn in THIS™ to Accelerate UK Growth Through a Combination of Primary and Secondary Financing | Planet First Partners News

It’s down -70% from the peak valuation from 2022. Great for folks who invested into the convertible round as they locked in a discount.

I invested ÂŁ500 back in the dizzy heights of frothing markets, so I wonder if it will make a positive return?

They seemed to be doing quite well, they had good investor updates. Interesting they they sold now, felt like they were on a good growth path, so potentially feels slightly early to exit?

Has anyone else invested in RNWL through Seedrs? I noticed today that its shares are no longer listed on the secondary market and I was hoping this might mean some news…

Taxscouts exit is pretty annoying.

Basically, a cash/stock split that is a 2% return and some based on performance,

The only real upside would be if the stock of the acquirer (Taxfix) goes up and exits later on

Based on my recent crowd performances though it isn’t the worst case

I invested in 2022 with EIS. Since the cash is less than 30% of the invested value and I will have to return the 30% back to HMRC. This is probably a negative return, at least in the short term.

Fully Charged is crowdfunding. The pitch isn’t live yet but there are some details in this video.

REMEMBER it’s on Crowdcube so you’ll experience fees when you’re buying and if you don’t lose all your money through a failed investment and the company actually does well then Crowdcube will come knocking again for their risk free Success Tax.

Think I will be sitting this one out.

Their in person expo events around the world seem very popular with big sponsors and big brands exhibiting and I enjoy most of their content on YouTube… I just don’t know why they need more money when they seem to have been growing at a great speed off their own backs.
