Personally I used yesterday as a good time to grab another 1000 shares
And hey there is still room for more of an upside in my opinion and at the moment its a great dividend payer

I know it’s painful but I do think Vodafone will sort itself out. It’s currently undergoing big changes at the moment and streamlining the business. With luck this will turn around in the next 6 months.
At least Vodafone is a profitable business and they have a healthy cash flow.
Oh Vodafone why are you my only share that hasn’t gone up this week?
I suspect its because of the class legal action thats been all over the news this week so I suspect thats making some analysts and investors worried as if it was successful its going to be hundreds of millions for each network.
And some analysts might be a bit cautious that Vodafone has given no indication of what they intend to do with the funds from the sale of spain.
Personally I suspect (I could be wrong) but my guess is that they don’t want to say anything just yet as if they get the deal cleared by the CMA & Ofcom but the government refuse it on the grounds they don’t want three to own any part of the because its a Chinese company then they have a large cash hall they can put to buying three outright, at the right price without borrowing huge sums.
Interesting Wayne, maybe an outright buy of 3 Uk would be a better idea than the merger.
Maybe this was the plan all along….
We all know that Hutchinson are keen to exit the UK market and no one is interested so far in buying it, but for Vodafone to go in with an outright offer to buy Three would cost huge amount as hutchinson would want a big premium, so maybe Vodafone thinks let go for the merger if it clears everything all is good they have control but if it get a yes from everyone apart from the government then it gives Vodafone more leverage to say here is your exit with a small premium
Also the market analysts doubt the Vodafone and Three will happen so its not yet been factored into the share price.
If they can get a deal through in either combination it wouldn’t surprise me if we then get a good bump in share price.
I feel sorry for Vodafone, no matter how much positive news they release the market is intent on keeping the price low the shares should be worth way more than they are now.
Telecoms unloved though I’ve seen some commentators saying 2024 could be their year. I’m heavily into BT yet the SP at the moment is close to yearly lows just like VOD.
Not Vod related but it seems the inflation + x% that the mobile operators have included in contracts may be coming to an end they may have to specify exacty how much the price will rise when they issue the contract. This may have a negative effect on the UK mobile operators.
I know I am a shareholder but I believe in being honest and fair.
The mobile operators brought this on themselves as both OFCOM and the government asked/warned them not to do the double digit increases when inflation was so high and they just ignored them both and went ahead with it.
Personally I don’t agree with in contract price rises, my view is if you take out a contract that should be the price until the contract period ends.
Hello all. A very nice 2p increase today :).
Looking forward to Dividend payment day. I’m thinking of one last purchase of VF shares and then using future dividends for other purchases. However this depends on the SP offered on the 2nd
I am guessing the bump is a couple of things.
1, government has approved E& staying shareholder and joint collaboration between them
2, CMA officially started the phase 1 merger of Vodafone & Three
Dividend payment day tommorow! I can’t decide whether to reinvest in Vodafone or spend my money somewhere else.
I already have a fair chunk in Vodafone and I can see any sudden growth so I’m inclined to invest somewhere else. What do you guys reckon?
Hi,
Thats a very tricky one to answer as Vodafone don’t seem to be getting much traction no matter how much positive news they bring out at the moment, although I suspect that is because the market feels the dividend payouts are way too large and should be cut to generate more free cash for the business and I think that is possible.
On the other hand as we all know we are waiting for the news on the Italian network review and what they plan to do i.e keep it as it is, sell it off or merge with another operator, depending on what that news is we may see a slight improvement but thats a guessing game and depends on the terms of any deal.
This year we will get a final decision on the Three merger which analysts and the market does not feel would get the go ahead so if it does that could give a good bounce to the share price.
But as normal with Vodafone is just a wait and see game.
I think I’ll go elsewhere it’s a good opportunity for me to diversify my portfolio. If I’m wrong I’m happy to buy more at a higher SP. If I’m right I’m not compounding more losses.
I won’t sell them though I hate selling shares at a loss.
Same, I’m in VOD and also BT and think they’ll see an SP revival, just seems like there are better opportunities elsewhere.
Cool now we’ve made the decision where’s the dividend?
I’m guessing we won’t see it before cob today
in my experience you never get the dividend during trading hours on the day it should be paid it’s always after trading closes or days after.
Thats the one thing i really hate with Freetrade they are slow at paying dividends and we always lose out as all the time we are waiting for it and its not in out trading account we can’t buy more shares or earn interest on it being in our trading account.
