🚀 Crowdfunding graveyard ⚰️

To add a little to this there was a Dec update I received on the 13th and I have received a further update just now in the form of a frequent asked q&a. Nothing new but going according to new plan (post restructuring!) Good news it’s still alive. Bad news you have been diluted by 0.8x. Could be a lot worse

Indeed - I do wonder what persuaded Jordan to give up his shares - I think there is a story there somewhere!

Agree - shame - the original pitch was really strong but this was always one of those ones that would either do well or go bust quickly! Annoyed at myself as I reduced investment in Tribe to put money into Mogul and Tribe seem to be doing very well atm.

True! I am glad I did not put in so much as I was very cautious.

Is anyone keeping a database/spreadsheet of all these companies with date and amount raised and date of end of operation?

This is probably the most extensive one

Wasn’t this what Monzo were looking to achieve through their marketplace offerings? Good luck to you none the less.

Hello @podpoint can you please explain why you have screwed over your small investors from 2017 who now lose the opportunity to claim EIS. If this is true it is absolutely despicable. Can anyone confirm if this is true. It’s doing the rounds on twitter

EIS relief is withdrawn if disposed of within 3-years. I think I read for Podpoint it is just a few months shy of the 3-year mark. If you’ve already claimed, then you might need to repay the relief. Anyway worth checking out HMRC’s guidance on EIS.

It’s the wrong thread, because Podpoint is a success, not a graveyard tale. But I think that would be a good question for the Crowdcube AMA as to whether companies should take into account the EIS status of their shareholders - AMA with Luke Lang, Crowdcube Co-founder and CMO

Yes I think it was 3 years in April, surely it would be possible to close the deal in April for all the difference it would make.

They might have tried to but it might not have been possible. I wasn’t a PodPoint investor, so I have only had second hand information. Worth asking Luke in the AMA like @Han said above.

Another one bites the dust in Seedrs - not surprised, as heard nothing from them since fundraising. Stupidly I tested their product after investing, and it was pretty poor - lesson learned, test first invest second :frowning:

Got a source for that?

Hello Stuart,
We are getting in touch to let you know that Tec Avenue has been dissolved. I’m sure that this news will be extremely disappointing for you as an investor in the company.
If applicable, you should have received your SEIS3 form to enable you to claim any tax relief you may be entitled to and if you haven’t yet done this, we recommend you do so. Income tax relief can be claimed within five years of the year you made the investment.
If appropriate, loss relief is also available under SEIS. You should seek professional advice if necessary. For more information about tax relief, please visit the HMRC website:

If you have any questions, you can contact us by emailing: support@crowdcube.com
Kind regards,

Crowdfunding is very risky.

lol summed up perfectly

Sure is, and I was aware of the risks going in.

I’ve just made one last big investment in a crowdfunded company then I think I’ll stick to traditional shares from now on :upside_down_face:

What made you invest in Tec Avenue? I took a quick look now, and it looked like a wireless charging brick? Something any Shenzhen factory can produce at will?
