Hi All, was wondering if anybody has completed and returned the EIS tax relief form to HMRC? I’ve just taken a look and I am slightly confused. I invested in April 2019, but understand I can file the return up to 5 years post this - is this correct? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance
You can claim relief for the 18-19 or 19-20 tax year.
You can file this any time within 5 years…but can only file it against the years mentioned above.
The easiest way to get the relied is just add it to your self assessment.
Perfect - thanks, Richard. Do you know if I am able to go in to my HMRC 19/20 tax return and edit it to reflect the investment?
Yes you can. Just log on to the self assessment and amend your return. You can add a new section with the EIS section on.
HMRC will then send you a refund within a week or so.
