It’s not going to be £450bn any time soon though is it?

I doubt Barclays got £450bn within 5 years of launch.

I think Monzo could be £10b in 5 years but there is a big margin for error

Just got this email.

On 20 July 2020, Shawbrook (the bank that provides your Savings Pot) will be reducing the interest rate on your Easy Access Savings Pot to 0.30% AER/Gross.

Current Interest Rate 1.15% AER/1.14% Gross (variable)
New Interest Rate (applies from 20 July 2020) 0.30 AER/Gross (variable)

So much for being online only allowing them to offer superior products.

Well, it’s not Monzo slashing the interest rate. It’s the partner bank. Monzo still has an easy access deal with 0.8% on the app. Just switch. Only takes 2 days :man_shrugging:

How long do you reckon that will last when the BoE base rate is 0.1%?

Also using the Shawbrook 1.15% AER rate and receiving the same email. Can’t see a 0.8% available to me… only 0.5% with Paragon!

Do you have a joint account?

Yes I also have a joint acc which was .8 but now being reduced to .4 I believe, perhaps .3 I can’t quite remember

The best I have in my Monzo is 0.8% (Had it open already)
I think 0.8% puts it near the top of the current table

I think Starling is 0.1%

They offer lower interest accounts for joint accounts.

Opinions on valuing Monzo and what you personally would rate the share price at?

  • £1.00 - £4.00
  • £4.01 - £7.00
  • £7.01 - £10.00
  • £10.01 - £13.00
  • £13.01 - £16.00

Whoa this is quite evened out valuations.

The annual report should be dropping very soon. This should let us know if they’re on their last legs or not. That recent funding from the downround won’t be much use if they’re burning 50/60/70 million+ a year without launching new features.

I thought this was quite interesting I came across. Pre the last round though in terms of a new dilution and the new down tick valuation recently so guess you can knock down the GBP amounts by give or take half with downround and dilutions. Looks like Crowdcube investors are looking sweet, but of course don’t mean a lot with no liquidity currently

Sadly no longer true:

“Revolut aren’t even a bank so I wouldn’t consider them personally,”

The easiest way to get a banking licence is to buy an existing bank.

No it is not that simple. You have to ensure risk management systems, governance practices and numerous other things check out otherwise you risk compromising the existing bank licence. I imagine after the AML failures at Revolut they will need to do more before they get granted a banking licence.

Best iteration of the product so far, but still underwhelming. Hopefully it gets better soon!

Revolut offer the linked account feature for free. I don’t think this should be behind a paywall.
Credit score checker shouldn’t be behind a paywall when it’s free elsewhere imo
Revolut has virtual and virtual disposable (one transaction then auto delete) cards for free.
I’m not really interested paying £60 a year for £20 of interest.
Transaction splitting should be free for all users
Advanced roundups should be free for all users
Custom categories should be free for all users

The Virtual cards are fine to be behind a paywall, but I’d like to see one free a month or something for everyone to entice users. Revoluts premium and Metal accounts are far far superior imo.

Let’s see how it pans out for them.
