NIO - NIO - Share Chat

I am also concerned about this.
Nonetheless, I currently have similar concerns about most (if not all) of my Electric Vehicle and Renewable Energy shares. I am considering selling around 50% of my investment in the sectors, I have not quite made my mind up yet. I will probably research further.

Exactly. Better grow up at home first. Especially if youā€™re in the hottest market on the planet.

I understand the EV hype, but in the end of the day I wouldnā€™t expect car industry in itā€™s totality to 10x. People will pay roughly same amount of money for their cars and buy same number of cars. There is no reason why NIO in 20 years shouldnā€™t have same multiple as say toyota today. Even self-driving, as cool as it is probably means that less cars will be sold because of shared ownership. So all in all looking at Fords and Toyotas of today makes me wonder why xpengs, nios etc are suddenly assuming that the industry will blow up.

Maybe I am not understanding something.

Spot on. I also understand the hype and I really like what NIO etc are producing. However NIO was under $5 a share half a year ago and the company has not done anything to justify the 10x SP increase. The market cap right now is ridiculous there is no other word for it.
I am of course very happy with the increase as I bought at what I thought was a fair price - I just donā€™t understand why it keeps rising.

Donā€™t forget that all legacy carmakers will be electrified within the next decade so any ā€˜advantageā€™ new EV hype stocks have right now will dwindle over time. Legacy carmakers have taken their time to adapt, but they are coming back and the market will return to normal.

Which company in this segment has done something to justify the price?

Itā€™s not question of how much NIO will be worth but rather what the personal transportation industry will be worth.

It used to be worth around 800b. Itā€™s moving towards 2 trillions. Will it then become 10 trillions? That makes little logical sense if we assume that people will buy same number of cars for the same price.

I can agree that NIO is an amazing company and maybe it will have 10% of the market. The question is how much those 10% are worth.

I think disputing the market cap of NIO is futile when you have Tesla valued at over $800bn.
I agree that these valuations for EV companies are mad but given the rate at which NIO is expanding production Iā€™m confident thereā€™s plenty of room left for it to grow this year.

Well this is it, Nio and the rest have only risen exponentially the last few months because of Tesla and major FOMO imo.
Nio will continue to rise, in fact Iā€™m sure it will explode tomorrow based on this weekends news and itā€™s the reason Iā€™m still investedšŸ˜„

Pre-market trading for nio looking especially positive today

@Fazz786 - To protect your money I highly suggest you do not invest absolutely any funds until you have understood investments more clearly.

Nobody can predict truly if an investment will go up or down, otherwise we will all be living on private islands.

Pineapple Power is a SPAC, a complex instrument designed as a vehicle for takeover and you shouldnā€™t really invest in these until you understand how to research them.

I wish I had some good links to give you and not just leave you high and dry but please take a read on more articles, more and more, keep going. Then when you feel more comfortable with your understanding, jump in.

Aim to invest your funds for the long term ideally, and only invest funds you can afford to lose and will not need access to in the short term.

Sorry I canā€™t be more helpful but your questions canā€™t really be answered. Itā€™s all speculation.

I sold my nio shares yesterday.

Any reason for why?
They got another price target of $100 hence the rise yesterday.

I honestly think they could achieve it this year give the rapid increase in production capabilitiesā€¦
