Review of Freetrade for Android šŸ˜Ž (Feedback & Testing)

Had the same issue as others when setting it up, took me beyond the working day so didn’t get my deposit in before this morning. Was there when I woke up, set up a trade, completed at 4pm, worked like a dream. Now to figure out an investment strategy and find some money to invest :joy:

Only thing I don’t like about the android app… Can’t see the freetrade logo?

I just placed a test order and I have two observations:

  1. I dislike that ā€œinstant order: Ā£1ā€ is selected by default instead of ā€œbasic order: Ā£0ā€. Freetrade’s marketing focuses on the ā€œzero feesā€ part, well, if you are the ā€œzero feesā€ broker, that is the option that should be selected by default. Just my 2 cents, but think about it: some people might not notice and then be very dissatisfied.

  2. The Discover tab could be so much better. It could show the price of a stock, it could have advanced search options, it could have a ā€œbest/worst performers todayā€, a ā€œsort by priceā€, a ā€œsort by country/currencyā€. So far I have to do that on a separate website and then open the app and search for the stock I selected.

I found no relevant bugs so far.

This is a good point and has been raised as an idea for a change. Hopefully, it will be implemented :slight_smile:

Started using app and design is clean and simple. Kudos to design team.

Btw, for passive investor like me it would be great idea if we have a ā€œrange basic order featureā€. For example I would like to automatically buy snp 500 for 40Ā£, So when the prices are near to this 40Ā£ ±some % then it should automatically put a basic order.

There will not be a guarantee that I will get it at 40Ā£ but it will remove burden from me to check for prices every day.

All order got cancelled even the quoted price is greater than closing price.

Quoted price: 19.35
Latest price: 19.29

Am I missing something??

Here are more features which can be added,

  1. Filters on discover window. E.g US/UK, industry, etf e.t.c

  2. Resubmit cancelled order: Currently, we have to manually add rejected order everytime. It would be great to copy all the contents to order place window and option to change price.

May have found a slight bug I entered my name and then went to the next step. Started typing my dob and noticed it was not filling in the box. So clicked on the box and entered my dob and the rest of the details. So for some odd reason my surname has the first 2 numbers of my dob. Could that be fixed please on my account… Yep should of double checked I am I idiot. (just made my first deposit just a small one to make sure everything is working) ie I got the number 100% right

Thanks for that Rat_au_van I will tomorrow during office hours if no one picks it up… Im sure they have much better things to be dealing with than my dumbness at 6:30 at night :smile:

I would suggest creating respective topics in the Ideas :bulb: category to gauge users’ demand for these :slight_smile:

App is now mine! Testing to commence once my top-up comes through.

But after initial setup congrats on a smooth well thought-out app and a good looking one too.

Fingerprint identification would be good. After using Monzo / Starling earlier today the passcode method felt a bit clunky.

Initial impressions mixed. Setup seemed easy enough and flowed nicely, but for some reason FT failed to validate my identity … and this is where the flow stops… with a message that I’ve been emailed with details of what to do next… But I’ve received no email… I assume FT will be asking for documents, but would much rather see this dealt with in app rather than falling back to emails… This is the point at which potential customers could just walk away…

If you submit a chat message out of hours it is queued for the next working day and will be answered when the next working day starts.

The ability to change charts from GBP and % would be great and I would personally prefer fragments, to slide between pages.
