Sirius Minerals 👾 ⛏ - SXX

No idea, never heard the term net future value. I don’t know anything about mining companies, but just read about this stock and thought it was interesting.

There is a saying that a gold mine is a hole in the ground with a liar stood next to it. Not sure if that applies to other types of mines

And the people making the real money during the gold rush were the ones selling the shovels.

What’s a call payment?

I guess refers to a cash call payment…

Will those shares which we received yesterday gona be displayed in activity tab?

I asked this. No, they won’t.

So there will be no proof that we own those shares?

It will just state this on total shares. I am sure Freetrade have the transaction details.

Hopefully we will get a contract note?

I don’t understand how we can not have this in the activity feed. We have paid money and bought shares, there should be an accurate audit of this, with access to a contract note. It shouldn’t matter that this wasn’t processed within the app like a regular share purchase.

Can we have some clarity on this? @JamieP?

Been thinking about this for a few days now…
Although fertiliser is in dire need right now, top soil is disappearing and food demand increasing, mining for it is just as unsustainable a solution as mining for coal or drilling for oil and gas.
As the population is becoming more environmentally conscious I’m not so sure it is a good long-term bet, however when you take economics and politics into account nothing is going to change in atleast the next 10 years, taking away that risk in the meantime but giving rise to groups like extinction rebellion.

But does unsustainable necessarily mean bad, with regards to fertiliser? Is there a downside to using up all naturally available fertiliser first before moving to alternative methods for achieving crop yields.

not necessarily, possibly if you’re planning to hold for 30 years legislation might shift.
I look at it similar to investing in oil.

I think the question with Sirius is not so much related to the market for fertiliser, but more whether they’ll actually be able to complete the mine and start production before they run out of money. That’s what I understand, at least. It was a bit of a yolo for me, probably my riskiest stock.
