Sirius Minerals šŸ‘¾ ā› - SXX

We’ve tried to keep everyone as updated as possible using the in-app messaging but I appreciate it would be more convenient having everything displayed within the activity feed.

Corporate actions don’t currently appear in the activity feed, this is something our Engineers have on the horizon but it’s not yet ready to roll out. We made the decision it would be better to offer this opportunity to shareholders whilst the activity feed was imperfect rather than not offer this event at all.

If required, we can at any point provide a transaction history showing how you reached the number of shares in your portfolio.

Any clues as to why the stock started rallying end of yesterday and this morning?

Edit: I got overexcited :joy:

Competition gearing up to meet entire global Potash demand for next 30 years.

Bad news for investors (me included)…?

Thoughts?

There are so many large potash companies already. This news article should not change your view. What was your rationale behind investing un SXX generally?

Is this potentially a good investment?

This forum is not for investment advice. You should make up your own mind about a stock by studying the fundamentals of it.

I took the plunge today, 1006 shares, total speculation on my part so keeping the investment moderate.

Looks like it’s bouncing back surely but steadily. Might have a top up this afternoon dependant on price. As always DYOR

Good luck

Yup, it’s been a tough week for most stocks. I’m new to all of this and it’s hard to be positive with the uncertanty of Brexit etc, but will be keeping with it… I’ve always wanted to invest and when this app came along it was the perfect solution :ok_hand:t5:

This doesn’t look good does it? They have to sell the bonds in September or they’re out of cash. And that’s conditional on the economic environment getting better…

Buying SXX is not investing, but gambling. More like blackjack than investing in Coca Cola or P&G.
That’s something all SXX investors should know before they buy. It’s a pennystock.

First off, welcome to the community :raised_hands:

Same here, I think things might get worst before they get better but time spent in the market is better than trying to time the market. Plus my investment goals are very long term so I’m happy to ride out this Brexit / Trump tariff mess.

I completely agree that it’s a huge risk but investors should do their research before investing in ANY stock.

With that in mind, it’s worth noting this FT article states that ā€œIf it does not issue the bond, Sirius will run out of cash by the end of September.ā€

Totally agree, I bought about Ā£150 worth as a pure gamble, that gamble had not paid off so I’m out - lost Ā£50 but I was prepared for that.

Funnily enough I also have KO and PG :+1:

You only planned to hold it for 1 week then whether up or down?

No I planned to hold it for the August RNS, I would have held for a few % drop, some of my shares are currently 12% down and I’m holding them because I don’t see them as a gamble.

I dropped Sirius because the sp tanked 30%, and then all the forums started filling up with the same old penny stock, get rich quick nonsense

ā€œThis is a buying opportunityā€, ā€œfill your boots at these bargain pricesā€, ā€œI invested my life savings into this and I’m now down Ā£100k but I’m in it to the endā€

Sound Energy followed the same route, same noises, same hopes to be rich off the back of a single penny share … and I lost Ā£1,000’s because I listened to the rampers and didn’t follow my plan.

So I sold Sirius not because it was a week later, I sold it because they dropped 30% and failed to raise the money they said they would and I’m not happy with that.

Personally I think Sirius did the right thing in pulling the bond issue if it was going to be punitively expensive in interest.

It leaves them at the mercy of the market over the next 2-3 months as there is no guarantee that the market will be any more settled come Sept (and it could conceivably be worse).

Having said which the fundamental concept behind Sirius is good and it is a pity that they got themselves in this mess with funding. Although it is a massively capital intensive project they don’t appear to have done a very good job in selling it to potential financiers.
