Switching ISA to GIA

I haven’t been able to find an up-to-date topic about this, though there seem to be a few older ones, so please let me know if this has been addressed, but has anyone figured out a smarter fairly straightforward way to transfer out of ISA to GIA?

I’m not using any of the benefits ISAs offer and the fees have gone up quite a lot in the past years. But going the established route (which may be the only one) seems like gambling.

What has been your experience transferring shares from ISA to GIA, any tips or dos and donts would be helpful. Thank you!

Genuine question but why go from a tax free wrapper that protects your future gains that might exceed the capital gains allowance at some point, especially as we know these allowances will continue to reduce in the future and become less generous. If you don’t want to continue with the costs there are other fee free options for ISAs out there and you can transfer across.

If your investing and have a good amount the ISA will pay for it’s self transferring to Gia is probably pointless better off! Just in the bank :+1:t2:

Well, sure, thank you. Because I haven’t hit the allowances for the past years and fees have been racking up. The other options do not offer the flexibility FT does, so I’d still like to stick with it. Also I can always switch back to an ISA account if it makes more sense at some point. That was kind of the reasoning.

Not sure anyone is better off in the bank though  Unless you are the banker.

It’s your cash and only you know how much you’re investing and how long it would take to exceed any allowances. If it’s a smaller portfolio then I can understand why you wouldn’t want to pay the ongoing fees, but look at it as a takeaway coffee or something a month and it puts it more into context.

That’s what I’m saying,it’s not great in bank it’s the same as a GIA and you only save £1000 or soon to be £500 worth of interest before tax  I haven’t put much in my ISA this last 12 months but getting some good dividends which I know won’t be penalise! Yet?! :man_facepalming:t2:

But all your choice like person said above :+1:t2:
