I was doing some research and stumbled across this. I like FT, the app, and customer service, but I’ve never fully considered the effective % fee (standard plan) on portfolios. How much do you think you need to invest p.a. to make the fee worth it compared to other platforms? Or rather, what should your portfolio value be to make it worthwhile compared to other platform fees? Also what are your thoughts from reading this article? Thanks

I always compare flat-fee brokers in this way or do the reverse and work it all out it cash terms.
Comparing Isas, you’d need roughly £40-50k to beat VG’s 0.15% depending on whether you pay monthly or annually.
Heck, you’d need about £14-16k to beat buying an index fund though Hargreaves Lansdown which is often pointed to as the most expensive broker.
But a general investment account with FT is a good option for small sums as it’ll cost you nothing until tax becomes a consideration.
