They issued 8.5M new shares, obviously some dilution is happening. May be not enough to be materially damaging to the squeeze scenario, but they obviously can’t keep doing the same thing.
I think they’ll try and get another 100-150m shares out, it would be quite strange if they didn’t considering how many they issued at much lower prices in Jan.
That comment reads like you don’t know anything about amc. No dialution has happened as those shares were already available. They weren’t created.
They won’t do that until this squeeze has happened. Defo not happening this year. They’ve already said that.
That seems like very odd behaviour - they are being offered free capital, why on earth would they not accept it? Could you share a link, it’d be interested in seeing their reasons.
$34.15+ after hours
They can’t just make shares out of thin air on a whim. Contrary to what Han said, they did not issue 8.5M new shares. These were shares they already had, same as the 45M shares they sold at $9.94 earlier this year. My understanding (although I can’t find any direct corroboration), is that they now have no more shares to sell.
There was a vote earlier in the year where they were asking shareholders permission to issue (create) another 500M shares, but this vote was cancelled when it was obvious that all the retail investors were going to vote against it. This is why there is this new vote (that doesn’t include the question about new shares), which is starting today.
The Reuters article seemed to indicate (although it was very vague) that the 8.5M shares was something that may have been agreed a while ago as a part of a exchange for bonds last year. This may explain why Mudrick wanted to sell them immediately as they had no idea when they agreed to buy them last year they were going to have to pay $27 a share for them. As I said though - it was very vague.
It was common stock, not a dilution. No dilution to AT LEAST 2022 Adam Aron said this himself and he even got it officially filed
Either they’re entirely new shares, or they are shares AMC previously bought back and did not retire. Either way, shares that weren’t available to be traded, now are. Maybe it was issued a while back in some filing before today, but there are 8.5M more shares available now.
Pretty sure they have issued 8.5 million new shares. Why would they be holding their own shares on the balance sheet?
Yeah I meant new issues, I understand the mechanism I just can’t comprehend the business logic.
I know retail don’t want dilution now, but after the squeeze this company is still going to exist and they are going to have to raise capital to service their $5bn debts at a ~$3 price once things return to normal
I wouldn’t say they are available as 474 million was traded today alone. We ate that up like a starter course of garlic bread now WE own even more of the float.
Interesting! How many shares do you have Cameron? And when do you envisage cashing them in and at what price?!
I agree with you that there is more dilution now. The shares are now a part of the free float, when they weren’t before.
That said, it’s interesting the share price has gone up even though they are more diluted.
…you think AMC has 5billion debts? Can I ask why you think this please?
I don’t have any.
Would you buy any? Or considering?
Nope, I require pre-approval to trade and am subject to minimum holding periods so I can’t make short term plays even if I wanted to
This filing says they have “issued” shares to Mudrick

It talks about dilution, and possible future dilution if you read it. also there are a few paragraphs on the risks associated with a short squeeze
