[Feature Request 🔧] After hours trading 🇺🇸 ⏰

I this would probably need to be coupled with limit orders to work, so would make sense for FT+.

Liquidity is an issue in premarket/AH so you’d get a lot of angry forum posts from people placing market orders and getting a perceived bad deal otherwise.

Yh I think this would 100% needed to isolate itself from Competitors

Lots of votes here. I see this isn’t currently mentioned in the roadmap. I wonder what is the thinking around this from the FT folks? Could this be a :plus_: feature?

It’s not on the roadmap because they’re not intending to add it - I think it’s been mentioned before that it would be difficult to maintain due to the low liquidity seen in pre and after market hours.
You’d likely get a lot rejected orders given the volatility seen in out of hour trades.

Can Freetrade consider doing pre market pricing on its app and possibly consider pre market deal striking ?

I would very much be tempted by plus if it had pre / after market trading

Same here, pre/post market trading would the feature that might actually persuade me to upgrade to plus

Has there been any thoughts to AH and PM?

PR just landed on a holding of mine, my sell trigger has been met, but obviously it won’t sell unless it hold’s till morning

It must be prohibitively expensive surely otherwise every broker would offer it? And even then liquidity must be terrible. I’d LOVE it though.

I like the freetrade UI but having to watch my portfolio drop 25% in the US pre-market and not being able to do anything about it is a kick in the teeth. Does any other UK broker do pre-market and after hours trading?

I think most platforms dont have afterhours trading, i watch how the prices move in Yahoo finance at night/in the morning, then like today i placed an order before the markets opened at 2:30pm to sell an overbought stonk and it was executed at around that time-- minimised my potential loss, since it kept fallin.

IG have it on some stocks but costs are high. They still don’t allow Gamestop or AMC!

Is FT ever going to provide access to the US Pre-market trade?

Indeed! This feature will 200 per cent made me move my full profile to FT and sign up for PLUS. I can see that this feature has been voted by many people, and being mentioned for quite a while.

May I know is there any reason FT not wanting to do this? Just so that we can understand, as I can see that this feature is not on the current upcoming road map.

Thank you! Look forward to hearing back from Freetrade!

Not FT, but I’d guess it’s partly concerns about liquidity. AH has low liquidity and given the poor visibility of pricing in the app I think you’d get a lot of people complaining about execution quality.

I think either we’d need L2 pricing or it’d have to be constrained to limit orders to work well.

Lower volumes, higher spreads, higher volatility, more orders rejected… what’s not to like?

Personally, I hope out-of-hours trading is way far down Freetrade’s priority list. Good luck to you if you go swimming with the :shark: :shark: !

I’d love to see FT give us access to pre and after hours trading. I had my eye on NNOX, and was going to pull the trigger today, after some good news about the company dropped after the market closed for the easter weekend. However in pre market this morning its already jumped 50%. A figure that will now make a buy a different proposition.

I think the point is that by definition the market is closed during after hours trading.

I believe what you’re seeing in after hours trading is other people doing deals outside of the market (e.g. they all share a common broker), but they are required to inform the market what the price of those deals were and so this gets reflected in the live price even though the market is technically shut.

Of course, I might have misunderstood this, but that’s what I think is happening.

Um, I saw a limit order executing the other day in the pre-market (14:10 UK time). I was trying to set it so it executes at market open but it looks like it executed before. Is there any testing going on to enable this feature? I think we should be aware of something like that. I’m not complaining about the specific trade, it turned out to be a good thing but if that’s implemented I think we should be aware of that
