Ferrexpo ⛏ FXPO - Stock Discussion

Think the dividend is the least of our worries. Could worthless in few days

So I presume it’s not just me? Bit has nobody else had April’s Divi? And doesn’t look very promising for next few ?

Any decision in relation to a dividend has been deferred for the time being. This is listed in their financial results.

This must be a wrong forum as this is already active so don’t know why it’s a request for stock?:thinking:

@Rajan07 @Freetrade_Team - Could you do the honours and close the thread as indicated by @JimmyJ and @Lenny above.

Cheers

Is this is right thread?

If so, then is the dividend yield correct?

Dividend yield is backwards looking so given the uncertainty around FXPO’s operations in Ukraine it’s not a helpful metric. The only thing you can say with a degree of confidence if that the next dividend has been confirmed as $0.066 or 3.84% of the current share price.

I’m not sure on thread and it’s definitely not 30% yield :rofl::rofl:

Well it might be if that’s how you work it out @NeilB 30% 12 month ago was massive

Although Ferrexpo plc is listed in the LSE and is Swiss for tax purposes, it is physically an Ukrainian business with 100% of their operations in Ukraine and an Ukrainian majority shareholder.

Can anyone from Freetrade advise on the following, Dividend Payment and Swiss Withholding Tax: UK tax resident shareholders. The current double tax treaty between the United Kingdom and Switzerland may entitle you to a certain reclaim of Swiss Withholding Tax on the dividend. Qualifying UK resident
shareholders will be able to claim back 4/7ths of the 35 per cent Swiss Withholding Tax, leaving a net tax cost of 15 per cent of the taxation levied by the Swiss authorities on the basis that you are, under UK taxation law, already obliged to pay tax on the gross amount of the dividends (which are treated as income for taxation purposes) received from the Company.
Please note: If your Ordinary Shares are held through a custodian (Freetrade in this case), then the reclaim may be automatically generated on your behalf. You should therefore check with your custodian whether the reclaim will be made on your behalf.

See Withholding Tax | Support and note the final paragraph which begins

Freetrade doesn’t assist with the reclaim of Withholding Tax

If still in doubt then ping Support via the app or email hello@freetrade.io

Note also that it is very unusual for execution only brokers to reclaim withholding tax for you (other than US).

I’m still learning about all this and 35% is a pretty big chunk. Reclaiming would be nice but given how much time it has the potential to take, I’ll probably just refrain from buying stocks from Germany and elsewhere as well as sell anything such as Ferrexpo where this problem exists!
