Hi all,

If I refer to @zaccharles google sheet, we have been averaging circ. 234 new users per day in the last month and a half with a flat-ish trend. The latest mark 5 days ago means we need to average 452 new users per day until the end of the year to achieve the 100k objective.

Am I the only one thinking we will not hit the target?

From the graph it looks like we might fall a little short unless it accelerates a bit. But I don’t think we’ll be far off

Keeping the same average over last week or so then would put us roughly at 82k users by Christmas but as we’ve seen the numbers of users added seems to vary quite a bit

It’s Monthly Active Users that is really key…

The Assets Under Management figure would be interesting as well.

Same here. Even though I have been critical, I am fully invested for the long term on Freetrade.
Surely the best option in the UK after I have been looking for something like it for years and hesitated to invest.

@Viktor I think you should reconsider removing the weekend read. I recommend you read this article from Andrew Chen (Consumer startups are awesome, and here’s what I’m looking for at a16z (70 slide deck) at andrewchen). I think the section on how the Michelin Guide was a genius piece of marketing is similar to what you were attempting to achieve with the Weekend Read. The figures may not have proved it yet… but I do wonder if you’ve given it enough time? Just a thought.

I miss the weekend read. Although picture and screenshot heavy, that’s a very well written article. It’s nearly Halloween maybe its time for the Weekend Read to rise from the dead? :jack_o_lantern::vampire::zombie::skull::ghost:

I also miss the weekend read

We, too, are Andrew Chen followers. You could do me a bit of a favour and try help me explain on this thread what content marketing is, as some of our community members didn’t like the idea: Is Freetrade recommending stocks in Stock Take etc? - #35 by Elettric

In all seriousness though, content is core to Freetrade, and will remain so. The best parts of the beloved Weekend Read will be upcycled, and you’ll see newsletters coming your way every month, starting with this month.

I appreciate it may be due to team constraints, but monthly just isn’t that often. Hopefully as you grow your team you can look to increase the frequency of educational content. Not necessarily through a weekend read but through regular posts. I think measuring the acquisition and retention based on this content is the wrong approach. It’s core to your mission and what helps you differentiate from the likes of Revolut. It engages the community and that is your most powerful asset. Although we are in a different era I highly doubt Michelin would have binned off the Michelin guide after 6 months due to poor ā€œacquisition and retentionā€. The time frame is just too short. Educating people on investing will have probably one of the longest ā€œsales cyclesā€ ever. As for someone who has never invested before it’s a big jump from nothing to putting their money in a ā€stockā€. Using data is good, but I believe there are times when you need to trust your vision.
