Introducing the new Freetrade web platform beta šŸ’»

So no added features, just viewing the app in a browser basically?

Basically it’s just the portfolio view in the app in a web browser, you can switch between GIA, ISA etc and it’ll show the same view as the app just on a larger screen

We had this over a year ago available to all… How is this now a beta testing product if you can’t buy and sell on the desktop version.

You can top up/trade etc. I was able to log in finally.

I think there’s some confusion here between the improved version of the web app (which I think started rolling out in April) and the beta web version from 2 years ago.

The improved version does seem to be a lot better and addresses a lot of the shortcomings of the initial version.

Testing looks to be going out to a wider audience. I’ve signed up, haven’t got access yet.

Nice! Is that on the app, or somewhere else?
I’m assuming I’m not invited yet, but just in case, I’d like to not miss it.

Still waiting

I like it, very functional, works well.

assuming we’re going to use this thread for the new web beta, then only initial feedback

  • Maybe there’s some areas to improve in terms of making the UX more clear to the user (what things can scroll, red/green investment gain loss isn’t there)
  • and on the iPad it seems to default to the more compact UI view, but my iPad screen has plenty of space to have the full desktop view so it currently wastes a lot of the space :frowning: (any way to force the better UI? I guess ill have to tweak the css or js determining it)

a fix for the iPad defaulting to the ā€˜small screen’ UI. zooming out one level to 85% making it serve the full UI (the one with investments to the size of the graph etc.)

default view on the iPad. lots of wasted space, not a great experience

85% zoom, this view should be default on this iPad screen. 100% better. please fix

a few thoughts after viewing on desktop monitor (16:9)

  • Investments being on that narrow RHS widget kinda sucks imo. And also the list cannot be filtered by 1 day performance like in the old FT Web. I’d prefer the list of investments to be below the graph, with watchlist along side. Then move ā€˜cash balance’ top right, then recent activity/orders below that.

  • lot of dead space on the orders/recent activity widgets

  • Graph is way too big. It can probably come down 50% - half of my widgets are cut off screen means having to scroll.

  • if i click through to a stock, then switch account, it should take you back to holdings but it It doesnt do anything - assuming if you own the same stock in the account you are switching to it would update but if im switching account i’d probably want to go back to account home page.

  • rejected orders are showing in activity even though I deleted them on the app.

  • negative performance doesnt show red text on investment card

  • no dividend information below stocks

  • no recent activity per holding

  • no YTD graph view

  • no insights tab or even a basic portfolio breakdown/pie chart thing

  • Cannot filter the activity tab

  • should be a total net worth indicator at the top somewhere

  • for some reason it randomly kicks me out…sometimes after 20 mins, sometimes randomly after a few mins of logging in.

step in the right direction but needs more time in the oven.

I got a notification and an email asking if I wanted to test. I think sometimes they release more people each week, if testing is going well.

On functionality, I was able to top up and buy stocks with no issues.

+Nice visuals on discover, I like the mini charts, colours and having details like market cap & div yield.
-Looks like some stocks are repeated twice here. I’ve reported a bug.

+These are really good, you can quickly see the percentage change between two points!
-The labels are fixed in position and so they cover the chart so you can’t see the chart behind it. I’ve also reported.

Small visual bug where some lists have 2 scroll bars, activity feed being one.

Thanks for the feedback, all! When we chose to release this version early, knowing there was likely some polish to be applied, and a couple of features still to add, this was exactly the type of feedback we were looking for.

Please do keep it coming, and we’ll do our best to incorporate as much as possible into the wider release version or future iterations.

For those waiting on access; we’ve been reaching out to cohorts of Plus subscribers only. Apologies if that means you’re waiting a little longer, but we’re doing our best behind the scenes to make it worth the wait :muscle:

But surely it should be how long weve been a member would have thaught most would have access now

Hopefully that’s the case. Hit me up Damon, I have a very low user number :joy:

I don’t currently have access to this just yet so my feedback will be based on what others have posted as screenshots.

  • Along the top where you can switch between GIA - ISA - SIPP, I see that ā€˜Treasury Bills’ seems to be omitted.

  • As we now have more space, it may be feasable to add pre-market and after-hours prices to the right of the stock price, giving us users more information about how the stock is being traded based on news when the markets are not open.

  • I am with @Panik - ā€œI’d prefer the list of investments to be below the graph, with watchlist along side.ā€ . This is of course my personal preferance and I am sure you have done your research during the UX Design phase :crossed_fingers:t3: but it feels more intuative to me.

  • I do like the percentage change between 2 points feature you appear to have implimented, which does bring me onto another point that I have brought up in the past, when you are looking at portfolio perfomance you should be able to select a year-to-date (YTD).

Would like to see bid and ask eventually. I know simplicity is the point but we all need the bid and ask
