Legal and General - LGEN

That’s similar to me - I will probably ride it out in the end

I may buy any dip if it comes back towards 220ish. One of my steady Eddie stocks.

Amd let’s not forget the build to let market

The stock price today seems to be roughly the same as 20 years ago. It has a nice dividend, but almost all other assets would have given you a better return.

The dividend is currently 6.6%. using rule of 72 if you reinvest that you double your money in about 11 years. OK so it’s not one of these meme stocks that double in a day but that’s not a bad total return, and it’s far less likely to lose 90% of it’s value in a crash

One of the higher dividends no?

Lgen is undervalued too. It can grow while paying great dividends

Well it hasn’t grown its share price in 20 years. Do you sometimes pause and think that it might not be undervalued? Or why investment professionals so blatantly fail to spot the undervaluation of one of the UKs most prominent stocks?

You can say that about the FTSE 100 in general. However that doesn’t take dividends into account, also 20 years ago was a peak, there have been some much better entry points since then

You could argue it was overpriced in the past and is now undervalued. Also a lot of people might be put off by past performance. I think it’s got fairly good prospects for steady growth and a good dividend and could easily return about 10% a year over the next few years.

Still dunno whether I want to purchase some shares before these results, intuition tells me its gunna go up in anticipation but then back down.

When does legal and general pay their dividends?

Hi guys,

A newbie here so please excuse the simplicity of the question. If I buy L&G shares now, will I only be paid dividend next year? Have I missed the date for this year?

Thanks!

Hi @Arsheen08 welcome to the forum.

The ex dividend date (the first date a which you DO NOT qualify for the dividend) passed on April 15th 2021. Scroll down to ‘key dividend dates’ on the L&G website

Looking at the dividend record they have regularly paid a smaller dividend in August. Hold them past the ex dividend date in August, assuming they issue one, and you’ll earn it.

They have set the ex dividend dates until 2026, how organised, which always fall on 15th April +- a few days.

Welcome @Arsheen08 There will be an interim dividend payment which goes ex-dividend on the 12th August '21. So if you hold shares by that date you will be entitled to the dividend.
