Outdated APP - Completely locked out and can't update

Currently I’m completely locked out of the FreeTrade APP due to outdated APP on iOS.

This is what’s happening:

  1. I have the Freetrade APP installed on my iPhone, it is outdated and when I try to open it, it says to update it.

  2. I press update and I get redirected to the App Store where it says
    “This app is currently not available in your country or region”

  3. I try to switch the region on my Apple ID, it says you have to cancel your Apple Music subscription.

  4. I’ve cancelled my Apple Music subscription. Still can’t switch the region since my Apple Music subscription was payed for a month and will expire in November.

  5. I contact Apple support, they basically tell me this:
    “You’ll really need to wait for the subscription to end on your account. That’s the
    option we have for your issue. I am sorry but we don’t have any other option to bypass the end date of the subscription on your account”

  6. Now I’m completely locked out of my investment account due to an outdated App.

Please introduce a support of previous versions of the App for at least a month.

You can create a new apple ID account in the supported region and use it for a month as an intermidiary solution

Hi Sergey, thanks for a suggestion.

This sounds more like a very very temporary hot fix on my side.
This would require going through a bunch of steps of removing my iPhone from iCloud, loosing files and photos and contacts synchronisation, doing all this on a new account, updating and then switching back to the “master” account and do the whole process again.

Sounds painful, doesn’t it?

No, it is totally painless.

You can only change your app store account without messing with photos, icloud, losing files etc.

Yeah, actually you’re right!
It asked me if I want to keep everything on my phone.
But now when I do the update it tells me

“Freetrade - Simple investing” No Longer Available
The developer has removed this app from the App Store

My new account is on UK region

Should be fine. Try deleting the app from the phone and installing it from scratch.

Also, to make sure that the app store account has been switched you might have to force close the app store app or restart your device.
