@alex It is difficult to provide feedback without repeating something that has been already pointed out or in going through all the threads in community, may be there is a better way.
If you have some page with always up to date summary of feedback received would be great.
Could of different categories like General/iOS/Android etc.
Just some quick feedback on initial usage.
The chart is a bit strange in that there is no date on the x axis - so when you look at max you have no idea what the timeline is.
Also percentage on the y axis is a bit misleading - what if there was a share split - that would be noticeable in the price of the share but in percentage terms it would possibly be missed. It should be toggleable.
On Discover, when you type in say⦠Tencent - you get a large blank space followed by a Oh Snap message, and a vote here link - which is hard to select as the keyboard covers half of it.
On buying shares, I wonder how long does the ābusyā screen display for - is it until the shares are bought? I was expecting an immediate return to my portfolio screen, with the transaction and its status.
On the portfolio screen, my investment is right at the bottom underneath a massive amount of wasted space - its the 1st thing I want to see, not my cash on hand.
Last thing, when we get notifications from the live chat it covers the bottom menu, a bit annoying if you want to look at something else before responding.
So some way to go, but looking good so far. De Giro has a decent app, its probably best to compare against.
I was testing iOS and Android versions side by side yesterday, and have to say both look stunning and I love the fact that the care has been taken to adhere to platform-specific design guidelines and practices.
While testing I have noticed one major thing that I wanted to flag (probably has been flagged already).
Oftentimes, when opening a detail view of a company, the screen would not load, but iOS would show it instantly making me think that the content get preloaded.
Some of these may already have been mentioned but my initial thoughts:
- there was the order queuing/actually going through issue last night which seems to have been fixed. Hopefully this doesnāt happen again but at least Iāll have confidence that the buy went through, even if the app doesnāt show it.
- sometime the items on my portfolio overlap. Exiting and signing in again fixes this
- sometimes the bottom item on my portfolio appears behind the taskbar. Switching tabs fixes this
- the % increase/decreases shown in my portfolio rarely match the actual fluctuations of the sp when I click into the individual share. While not a massive issue, some of the shares have been 2 or 3% out for hours a time. This has been worst on Fullers.
- sometimes the 1D view does not accurately reflect the sp of the day. Iāve noticed this on a few shares, including 1 where despite being positive for the day, the 1D view showed it as down 30%.
- we need a fast scroll bar to zip through the stocks on Discover.
Otherwise, Iām really impressed and happy with the app so far. Sign up was a breeze (2 minutes max), top up took about an hour (which is fine) and I really enjoy the interface. Chat function is nice and easy. 7 buys went through no problem at 4pm-ish yesterday, only 1 rejected (boo). 3 more queued for today (hopefully no rejections). Really like what youāve done so far and cannot wait for more stocks and fractional shares to come our way.
I donāt have a fingerprint reader on my mid range phone that is just under 2 years old. Not that common a feature compared to iOS. My next phone will probably have a fingerprint sensor. Iām generally an early adopter of tech, but not that early is seems, esp if the cost or too high.
My £70 from argos phone has a fingerprint reader, it would be nice to login with that but not really essential
The fingerprint sensor is becoming far more common even on cheaper and low end phones now.
Great app so far for this early in public testing. But for usefulness Iāll go straight onto issues
- Wasted space at the top again, would be much better to extend these screens to the top and have more information on the page viewable without scrolling
- No notifications - Ideally notifications an hour or so just before queued orders are purchased, also maybe tell if queued order price is lower than current market price/likely to fail. Then having notifications once order goes through or fails. I didnāt get a notification that a stock order was going to/did fail so I have to wait till Monday to purchase again.
- Portfolio - I second other opinions about removing available cash from the portfolio. Iād much rather just have the shares that Iāve bought.
- Discover- As others have said a more powerful tool please, filtering and sorting by; ETF/stock type, Industry, uk vs us and by the individual share price. Also a fast scroll bar u can hold down and scroll alphabetically.
Sorry if itās overly negative, my experience is far from that. Itās just itās probably more useful at this stage to get as much constructive criticism for future improvement.
Anyone else interested in a shortlist function, saving potential investments for later?
I just came on to suggest this very thing. It would be a great feature
It sounds like youāre looking for watchlist type functionality? If so, vote for it here: ā [Feature Request š§] Watchlist ā.
Thanks, all a bit new to this. Voted
My thoughts on the new adroid app
PROS:
.Sleek design and not too much info on screen although could put in an option to see extra info or not
.Easy sign up process and ease of use once in the appš¤
.Has options for instant or basic buying of stocksš
.Has a few good stocks already on appš
CONS:
.Trasfering funds into freetrade account need to be quicker. E.g like gambling sites. Currently takes between 30 mins to an hour
.It needs to clearly state that you have have two options for buying stocks. (Instant and basic)ā¦I only found out by watching a youtube video
.Add more Volatile stocks like Easy jet. Add more stocks in general that people are requestingš£
.There is no tutorial as you start the app. It just loads and you are left up to it ?
Suggestions:
.There should be a tutorial screen when you load the app. Certain icons/headings could be highlighted and the rest of the screen could be made darker whilst at the bottom you read what the highlighted item is aboutā:iphone:
.I suggest a scroll bar in the top right of the discover/stock search section to make it easier and quicker to scrollš±
.Maybe add a filter on the discover section for stocks that offer dividends, stocks without dividends, energy firm stocks, insurance stocks, lowest price drop/percentage stocks ect. This will help individuals narrow down what they want to invest in
.Make trasfer of funds into freetrade account quicker I missed out on buying a stock due to waiting for my funds to go through.
Overall:
I am very happ with the app so far 8/10. I know you guys at freetrade are working your butts off and it is very much appreciated by everyone on here as you can seeā:man_technologist: I have been waiting for an app like this ever since I saw what robinhood was capable of. You guys have made it possible that a young person, such as myself, can start investing and possibly leave behind investing lessons and assets for my offspring
For this I salute you guysš
Hereās to years of comission free investing for everyone
FYI_ I will put up a youtube review video to spread the word on my upcoming youtube channel called WELLBLESS
4 posts were merged into an existing topic: In-app tutorial
I think I understand the purpose of this kind of tutorial and agree it may provide value. Nevertheless I like to be asked if I want to skip the tutorial. And have the choice to come back later.
The info about the existence of basic free orders and instant Ā£1 orders can be found in the website. Itās just not on the home page. Check pricing page
Also in the terms and conditions when you sign up and the orders execution policy
Thanks for the info Raul. I think this info should be on the main home screen in my opinion but as you and emma stated it is there in the fine print. To be honest the Ā£1 execution fee doesnāt phase me especially knowing how much other brokers charge.
Thanks for requesting this Iāve made your comments a post (which youāre the owner of) so that the idea doesnāt get lost in this thread. I hope thatās ok!
@Raul as your comment on the idea also mentioned the pricing I havenāt moved it over but please feel free to post it again in the new thread.
Iām liking the app, obviously still in beta stage atm, I think it would need a different search engine to search individual countries when more markets get onto it but thats for the future. itās awesome though
Iāve been playing around with the Android Beta as well and while I think it generally works quite well. I have a number of initial suggestions on how to improve it (some of which may have been made by others) and have not used the iOS version so canāt compare between them
- The Discover tab needs work:
-
please have an option to only display UK or US stocks rather than everything
-
the descriptions/names of some of the firms needs more work:
Amex is āgold cardsā;
Mastercard and Visa are ;credit cardsā;
Adobe is āPhotoshopā;
Unilever is āsoapā; and
P&G is Bathroom stuff etc -
BAT is named BA Tobacco;
-
it would be good to have news stories under each company
-
ditto share prices in £/p not just % in graphs
-
The app would benefit from a Dark Mode - I know White is Freetradeās corporate branding but it can be difficult for some people to read text with a light background.
-
Option of fingerprint login would be nice
-
Top ups need to be faster. I also find the pop-up message on the top up screen saying āunique reference not copiedā each time to be quite irritating
