Shein is an online fast fashion retailer headquartered in Singapore.
Crazy valuation?
Hard to know until we get a look at the S1, but they’re number will have to be substantial to justify an IPO value of $90bn.
Private market valuations are often a little quizzical given some of the numbers are from people marking their own homework, but dropping from £90bn to £50bn is a significant drop.
Would roughly be 12th biggest constituent of the FTSE if it happens, prior valuation would have been top 10
Interesting one to watch either way
Highly unethical company in my opinion.
It seems the LSE has become the listing place of last resort for companies with poor human rights records
I see it as a geopolitical play from Shein. As a Chinese company they need access to western capital and they can’t list in the US.
They are unethical and not one I’d invest in but keen to see its debute and wonder if it’ll signal more UK listings.
Seems popular with millennials. The other half has been using Shein for a while.
Thought my missus already had shares in this lot, judging by the amount of packages that arrive at the house from them!
