Zoom AMA #8: Product update and AMA with VP Product, Duncan Leslie. Thu 11th June, 8 PM

When will :freetrade: launch in Poland :poland:? Can you give some deadline?
By the way: I don’t need Polish stocks or even EU stocks, and you don’t need to translate the app. Just launch!

Are there any plans for a Confirmation Screen, so that we can see a guaranteed price before confirming a trade?

Q: Imagine FreeTrade became known to be absolutely amazing and better than any other investing application at “X”. What would you want “X” to be?

Is there an approximate timeline on when are we going to see the app expanding onto tablets and web interface?

When will we see fractional shares in ETF’s?

you don’t want to encourage people to throw money into Freetrade to collect badges. If anything the user should always be made sober and aware of risks.

On the contrary, I didn’t mean for the badges to become “pay to play” in fact Monzo used to have a great set of in-app achievements that served as a great onboarding experience for customers - I used it myself to learn my way around the app. “You’ve set up your first Direct Debit”, “You’ve split a bill”, “You used the account switching service” etc.

I wasn’t thinking along the lines of “You’ve desposited your first £20,000, £50k, £100k” more like “You’ve just had your first dividend”, “You’ve been here 1 year” again with a view to allowing social sharing by users and encouraging more sign ups. Using the community of Freetrade to spread the words instead of blowing money on ads on the back of buses etc.

  1. When will more UK stocks arrive

  2. Will you be offering a limit order service - stop/buy

  3. Primary bid link up (do this before 212)

  4. Speed of buying, give an option to put orders into the auction instead of rejecting.

Could we be given the option to pay the ISA subscription up front for the year? resulting in a small saving for the user? Perhaps the charge could be ÂŁ30p.a

Looks like the API is not on the roadmap anymore? Any reason why?

Hey Ben, the new Building Freetrade page isn’t intended to be an exhaustive list of everything on our horizon.

But rather, a list of what we’ve shipped/are working on/exploring right now.

An API is definitely something on our agenda, so it may well enter the ‘Up next: things we’re exploring’ section at some point in the near future!

Ok, just a shame to see it bumped down the priority list. As open banking moves to open finance it would give you guys the chance to get in the lead on this front

Any timeline for auto dividend reinvestment?

There is some things on the roadmap that is listed separate to the Freetrade Plus, such as More Order Types. Does this mean it is going to be a “available to all” feature, rather than a Freetrade Plus exclusive?

When can we get something like M1 Finance’s Pie feature in Freetrade?

M1 Finance Pies

I recall Adam mentioning AutoPilot last year for Freetrade. Is that functionally the same as this or [Feature Request 🔧] Auto Investment đŸ€– 📈 ?

Less of a question and more of a suggestion/thinking out loud (unless you want to answer it!), but I wonder if there are any plans to give all current user accounts ~3 months of free access to Freetrade Plus?

I imagine there are going to be a small but vocal group ‘displeased people’ of when Freetrade Plus launches and they discover that a lot of features are going to be for paying members/customers only. It seems like a good/cheap way to keep some goodwill.

That said, I think that Freetrade ‘Regular’ will be still be a great product and a lot more generous than I would make it if I was in charge! I’d put everything into Freetrade Plus and make ‘Freetrade regular’ purely FTSE100, green energy/environmental ETFs and a few select US shares.
