I think all the glitches have to be sorted out as a priority, I have to restart, force stop the app and occasionally reinstall to get the app to work properly. One of the first things a new user would do is deposit cash, the delay involved isnāt going to create a good first impression. I think a lot of the company overall and invest in it, but not everybody would care about the firm put up with it.
Freezes when buying, error messages when buying/selling when in fact the transaction has been made, portfolio total freezes until I stop and restart the app. A lot of little things that I work around and accept and put up with because I have affection for Freetrade, I just donāt think every new user would feel like that though. So I think that if there was a major drive to get new users right now we might get some negative reviews until these issues are addressed.
I donāt have any of those problems, sometimes itās a bit slow but it always completes the transaction and shows the confirmation, and I can go back to the portfolio and make more trades without issues. I never need to restart the app. So I get that itās annoying, but itās not going to affect every new user
Iām android by the way are you IOS? There must be a reason your app fuctions better than mine, my phone and all other apps are good and my signal is fine.
Iām android. the app works pretty reliably for me. speed would be my only complaint, but Iām not sure how much of that is just because I bought the cheapest phone in the shop
I have the worst phone in the world - over 4 years old, an import from India of a Chinese phone from a brand that no longer exists. Itās just had its 4th battery replacement. Itās running LineageOS, granted the latest version, and Freetrade workās 100% perfectly for me. Iāve never had a single issue.
Iām not saying this to gloat, Iām just thinking that maybe this is an issue with your phone?
No I cannot see your first bullet being acceptable, nor is it a good way to grow a business by restricting access. I would rather see ability to set a Stop Loss and Limit Orders. Plus better graphing tools for Alpha accounts agreed.
Hi @BigH141 - I think you havenāt read all of the posts, Iāll refer you to the relevant comments below - Freetrade themselves have already stated some stocks will be Alpha only, my suggestion is to tweak this to minimise the impact of the decision. Of course, Freetrade may also rethink this themselves if enough people are dismayed by it.
Stock specific chatrooms could be interesting. If you own a stock and have alpha you gain access to the chatroom. You could also look to add a newsfeed in the chatroom to encourage discussion.
What would be the difference between an in-app chatroom and the stock-specific topics already on this forum - Is it notable enough to encourage people into Alpha (and for devs to code it)?
And why should those who donāt own the share not have access to any forum and what would be the point of limiting it to Alpha customers - apart from excluding others - which would make it a worse resource for everyone
The forum community has valuable members who might only have a 100 quid pocket money. Letās not exclude them. We dont need an elite system.
I would just like an investor chat for bigger investors who care about company because they own significant shareholding. Say 10k plus. I expect eventually there will be a select group externally
