How do I start a post rather than just replying to something? Not obvious to me.

Anyone got any thoughts on Syncona ?

Thanks for the reply but working on a tablet there’s nowhere looks like what you showed. D .

I’ve never logged in on a tablet but this is what I see when I log in on my phone:

I think, if I remember correctly, that I had to reply to a couple of conversations before the new topic button appeared?
I could easily be wrong, mind you…

You might be right there. It is a good way to stop spambots.

Afternoon, I have a question regarding management charges for ETF’s.
How are the management charges deducted? Are they deducted from my FT account balance? Are they deducted from any dividend profits before payment? or are they deducted in terms of share sacrifice? (if I had 1000 shares and an annual management fee of 0.50 % would I have to forfeit 5 shares as a fund payment?)
Regards Gwa

Hi Gwa
As I recall they are deducted from dividend profits (or by the fund selling some of the underlying shares, if insufficient dividends available). As a holder of an ETF, you never directly pay the fund’s management charge.

Is a dividend yield of 11.58% good?

It’s neither good nor bad, you can’t really draw a meaningful conclusion about total return from dividend yield.

For context though it’s probably helpful to consider the yields on other assets. The risk free return (US 10Y) is under 2%, junk bond yield is ~5% and implied equity return is ~7% so the market is suggesting that dividend is at very high risk and likely unsustainable or is mispricing it.

After posting more than a few times you’ll need a mod to delete your account. I’ve flagged this for you (ignore any auto messages) and one of the team will pick it up.

Purely geeky question here.

How does the concept of settlement work in the case of a day trade?

This is a company (tungsten west) I have been investing in since December last year. I am new to investing and i chose this company as a long term investment. I have been adding an amount each month and I am happy with my investment so far. They aim to be in full production by 2023.

I am a newbe not offering any advice, just my experience over the last few months.

Hugh frequency trading algorithms hold shares for seconds in some case.

Maybe there is a woman called Brenda that all the stockbrokers are scared of and if you don’t get your trade in her in trade by 5pm she’ll tell you off.

I mean this in the politest way possible, but please do your research and avoid the meme stocks. Don’t chase unrealistic returns.

Or chase them but only with money you can afford to lose!
