Calculating profit and losses

Hi Team,

So if i buy a certain etf keep on buying then sell my position or part of my position.

I have requested the excel file to calculate it…

It is not clear to me how i should do this?

Anybody has any tips?

According to the FIFO principle. First in first out (sold). It’s quite complicated to do on your own.

I just use an excel spreadsheet as I don’t like FIFO, I want a proper average (AVCO I think it’s called).

Log each purchase in one column, log each sale in the other. Get a total for each, subtract sales from purchases, divide that total by number of shares you still hold.

Sometimes I want to know the average of purchases only so then I add all purchases together and divide by number of shares ever bought.

Divide the total amount invested by the total shares bought. You can also figure out the average purchase price for each investment by dividing the amount invested by the shares bought at each purchase. Voila! You now have your average purchase price for your stock position.

Ok found thos on fool. Com

Supose once i have the average and i sold 10% then i readjuat the average?
