Crowdfunding round seven, Wed 24th Nov 2021 🎉

IMO they will put a cap on individual investments, the idea is to get as many new crowdfund-ers as possible, ideally with a big chunk outside of the UK.

I agree that Freetrade will want lots of new investors from outside the UK - these will help spread the word and raise the profile in new markets.

However, with previous rounds being funded in minutes and existing investors getting an hour head start, it will be interesting to see how many shares are actually left for new investors

From the tone that Viktor set at the AMA he implied that he thought the £8mil cap they have available won’t be filled immediately so there would be time for the newbies to get involved too.

Although would be intriguing if us previous investors manage to defy his logic and raise it all in under an hour… :rocket:

If cubex is up and running maybe people might want to share their shares

I’m hoping there will be another exit opportunity during the series C. I wasn’t tempted at all at the series B price but at £10+ I could part with a small percentage. It’s a win-win as there will be less dilution for new investors.

Guess it depends on how much the company needs the funds. I would say that it’s always better for new investors and the company that the company receive the funds to grow than for an early investor to exit.

Am sure there will be plenty of interest hence why every crowdfund round has had to close early, if early investor does sell it could just mean more investors joining the company which is also a good thing. And the company is already maxing out the allowance already, 8 million for UK and 5 million for EU

£8 million sounds conservative considering Monzo raised £20 million in hours, Dec2018… FT prospects are currently better than Monzo considering that FT have started the European expansion, it will be interesting to see the volume of shares, Europeans buy ? UK investors are unique in the way they invest in share markets and indeed property markets, IMO only the US are on the mentality level.

The 8 million UK and 5 million EU limit is because if it exceeds this, they are required to produce a prospectus.

I doubt they put a limit in on the UK side. £8M is a lot of money!

I thought there was a limit of 20k or 40k last time. Not that I was hitting it :joy:.

Just a reminder that you can also invest using a credit card.

But make sure you pay it in full next month so you don’t have any interest charges.

Not sure if anything has changed, but last time I used my Amex cashback. No extra charge and card rewards as usual. :tada:

Thanks for the heads up Peter

Just remember if you need credit anytime soon then you’ll want to pay off the card before the CRA’s get the latest figure. If you wait until after the bill but before the due date then it could be a months before the CRA’s update and your credit score recovers. Obviously that’s only one factor but lenders will look at you suspcious if your credit usage spikes.

Well said

Did anyone receive any email on the crowdfunding round this week? I don’t recall seeing one, so just wondering if anything has or will be sent out. I know a number of users that aren’t active on the forum or other social networking platforms that won’t even know about it yet. Would be a mad scramble if they only find out the morning of.

Also, I wonder what marketing is being done on it across the EU, or will they just be relying on the fact that Crowdcube can now accept users across the EU.

I would have thought there would be a lot of communication around all of this. But perhaps they are planning to stagger the marketing and spread the interest over a number of days rather than potentially crashing systems with so much action in just a few hours.

We did get one about the AMA.

Otherwise I guess the in app message is targeted at all current users, I’ll bet the waitlist in other countries got an email.

I got a personal email from @Viktor telling me about the raise !
Actually it came from marketing@freetrade.io… well it might have been a newsletter… Anyway, I think it’s been announced like that
