My thinking
If I pay using a Credit Card on CrowdCube, do they charge me Credit Card Transaction fees or only the fund raisers need to pay credit card transaction fees for payments received from investors using credit card?
I said a while ago that I think there will be venture money in this round or very soon after.
I’ve used credit cards a few times but no other charges applied for me except crowd cube 1.5% fee which i think will be applied for any cards (debit/credit)
I’d you get cashback from your provider normally
Alwayd repay straight away though. Its not a great idea to invest using a credit card given the interest fees involved
Why would you still want to accumulate if you’ve got an average price of 21p and shares are now worth £10.00? That would be crazy right?
Nope, not necessarily. If you think FT is still a good growth investment, the price you previously paid has nothing to do with your decision to top-up or not.
Previous price paid defines one thing that really matters: Portfolio sizing.
Is FreeTrade holding too large as part of your overall portfolio?
In other words, if FT is now half your net worth, yes, perhaps you should skip and even trim down to manage risk.
In fact, FT is a much more mature business right now compared to 2-3 years ago so the SP should reflect that, and it does.
Nothing wrong with averaging UP.
While I’m an early investor and hate to invest at much higher prices, I want the share price to stay low while I’m still accumulating.
I will accumulate based on whether the new SP is a good bargain for the business I’m buying - given FT’s growth prospects, previous delivery, future revenue, etc. And as long as my portfolio is not too concentrated on FT.
Obviously, no EIS is a bit of a disappointment!
But yeah, anchoring to prev prices we paid is psychological. For example, it’s the reason we don’t cut our losses in a toxic investment until we’re back to break-even. Even if we know we wouldn’t buy at the lower price had we not invested in the first place.
To each their own of course, DYOR and all that
That makes sense, but I think my portfolio is too concentrated in Freetrade now. It’s Massively bigger than any other positions, and as I won’t be able to draw any money out for years I don’t really want to put any more in.
Daven. If you’ve registered and now have a Crowdcube account you’re all set. Just sit tight until Weds. You’ll be sent a link where you can read the pitchdeck and choose how much to invest. These things can go very fast but there are several million pounds of shares so you might have a bit of time. With over 1 million accounts though and EU now able to invest it may all go quickly. Best to be logged on at the right time and you’ll be able to enjoy Crowdcube crashing under the weight of demand again.
In other words … @Robbie & @juno / @gordongecko (et al)
Cashback / Airmiles was the only reason I wanted to use a credit card to pay. However, since I posted that message, I realised that I have debit card with 1% cash back, which would work for me. Anyways, thanks for your help.

What would happen if an issue is oversubscribed? Would the shares be allotted
- By a lottery
- On a proportionate basis
- On a First come First served basis?
-
When would the issue price be revealed?
- Before the said time / date?
- At 10am/11am/12am for the respective categories of prospective investors?
- Revealed at 10am for all categories of investors?
This one, the round will close when they hit the limit or Freetrade close in down.
It’ll be in here at or before 10am
First come first serve basis for share allocation, and share price will be revealed at 10am I think during the raise even if you don’t have early access am sure the price will be automatically revealed on the forum at 10:00:01
Just before the Crowdcube platform goes down.
Some good points you raise I possibly didn’t articulate it very well in my original post so to clarify: whilst I do believe that Freetrade still has good growth prospects / plenty upside from here, they are not as big an opportunity that I’m seeing with other very early stage companies, particularly here in the US. Essentially trying to find the next opportunity like FT in round 2 (£4M valuation seems ludicrous now
). It’s very very risky I know but that’s what also makes it incredibly exciting!
Good luck for whatever decision / path you take
I am a bit confused about the Round numbers. In this screenshot, Round 7 shows as Aug 2020, however this thread for 24th Nov 2021 also says Round 7.
The previous 2 crowdfund was technically the same round but it was seperated for EIS reasons hence the same share price at £2.51
I believe there will be a CAP on how much worth you can buy in R7.
For example if for example the Shares in R7 are valued at £10 then there could be a limit on maximum share you can buy - like up to 1000 (cost to you 10K) or 500 (cost to you 5K) to purchase in R7
They want as many people - share holders to come on Board, so it looks good all round for FT, CrowdCube, Marketing … etc.
The other note is as FT is Expanding all-round - Geographically, App Functionality like SIPP and Marketing heavily - you can see that they are in a very high speed growth strategy or sphere, So I envisage that IF the Share is priced at around £10. It would most likely would double in value in 12 months time - So future rounds 8 , 9 , 10… could be with even higher price tag. Unless something risky happens or they dont get the licenses to operate in Europe or as far a AUS. I am not sure about US. SO WATCH this SPACE.
most certainly the Crowdcube raise will be over subscribed at the price to be announced 24/11/2021 which in turn will increase the share price next time round this is without the probable VC further involvement in due course, happy days.
