Is this in order to protect shareholders rather than as a sanction?

Probably sanctions

Not sure why they would help stop him losing money

Yeah but it was an ft100 company so it will be held by small British shareholders as well as tracker fund pensions etc etc
Interesting times.

Might be why, not a great look for a uk listed and headquartered company to be supplying steel to the Russian army!

Are any brave souls staying in?! I have to say I can’t see any this ending any other way than a delisting and assets being seized by the Russian government.

Managed to sell 200 shares this morning for £0.94 after buying 200 for £0.75 the other day. Little profit of £37. My sell order was rejected 4 times. Had my hopes set on the big dividend payout this month, but will hold the rest of my 1000+ shares.

Their release contains a lot of references to maybe.

The steel company, it added, had potentially been involved in ā€œsupplying steel to the Russian military which may have been used in the production of tanksā€.

I wonder if they will next start building golden tanks? I’m orf to watch the POLY thread.

What we need to remember is selling steel to a country months ago seems to be the issue. Evraz dont make tanks. If the UK now invade a country for no reason, are tata steel to blame because they supplied steel for us to build tanks?

So what does this mean for ower shares we have?

Would the best case be that he sells his shares in the company.

Don’t think he can, that’s the whole point of the sanctions

Plus Evraz have I believe operations in Ukraine so could well have supplied their military with steel also.

A lot of the wordign in the staement gets missed out as well. Sanctions imposed because he owns shares in a compnay that produces steel in russia that MAY be used to build tanks. What sort of justification is that :joy:

Pretty sure it’s not about Evraz but the Oligarchs owning almost the entire company.

Abramovich is only sanctioned until May 31st, although that may be increased if Russia is still in Ukraine.

This may be a similar time span that evraz is suspended, although I could see Russia demanding it pulls out of the LSE completely now.

They are already threatening to nationalise companies that are currently pulling out of Russia.

Is evraz is back up again?
