It would be a good start if we could at least move our favorite stocks up and down in the watchlist in order to organize this according to each one’s criteria. The current watchlist is static and its improvement would be a nice upgrade to the user experience.
Would be great if someone from the team could let us know if this is being worked on or not. If so, is there an expected time frame. With less than 160 votes, it doesn’t look like it’s gonna be on their priority.
I don’t remember Freetrade addressing this issue directly, but I might be wrong. You’re more likely to find features that either drive revenue or more importantly user growth at this time. If you’ve got a choice between this a fraction UK stocks, EU stocks, Crypto or Autopilot most would choose one of those.
Would have thaught this would be a expected basic feature
Kinda depend on what they using (Most likely RecyclerView in conjuction with LiveData & ViewModel in Andriod)
I think it will take time to implement, but I agreed on one thing - Shouldn’t take 2 Years thou
That True looool
Probably they spend all rounds money for marketing not for developing
There needs to be a balance here. Gaining exposure through marketing is great but if the app functionality is not improved upon then all the new members could potentially move to a new platform while leaving bad reviews. I must say though, I haven’t seen freetrade advertised anywhere.
Agreed, I understand they need Brand Exposure but they need to keep up with improvements & applications development as well
TBH only ever seen it advertised on a Bus once
Although I would like a “sort by” with many options, just being able to go to alphabetical would be a good start! I hate having to scroll around trying to find a stock or going through the search option. For such an amazingly good simple app it is very un-user friendly if you have a lot of stocks,
Indeed. I do find myself deleting/capping my watchlist because of this but when a new company sparks your interest it just goes right in. Currently I have 51 lol.
Possible request to be able to create extra folders in the watch list. It would help me to be able split my watch list into categories of my choice… to tidy it up and organise it a little.
Thanks,
Kev.
I would prefer if Freetrade made a dedicated watchlist screen (with multiple watchlists), maybe showing associated news about the stocks.
I don’t know if I’m in a minority, but I don’t use the insights screen very often and would be ok with replacing that with a watchlist screen and have an insights button somewhere near the top of the portfolio screen.
Thanks for the requests @kjmetals @TradeRunner.
Multiple watchlists are on our radar but are not actively being worked on right now. I just want to add a couple of follow-up questions to this: How do you use the watchlist on Freetrade now? Are you doing anything to solve the problem of not having multiple watchlists on Freetrade currently? (e.g. do you have multiple tabs in a spreadsheet? Write them down on separate sticky notes? etc)
I don’t really use watchlists actively on Freetrade right now.
I find having them appear at the bottom of my portfolio holding a little bit inconvenient - depending on how many holdings I have I don’t like having to scroll to the bottom to view them.
If I’ve definitely (rather than just keeping an eye on it) decided to buy a stock, say because I’ve been looking at it over the weekend, I’ll add it to my Freetrade watchlist - more like a reminder and so I can buy it quicker without having to go back to the search screen.
Currently I mostly use Google Finance to hold a couple of different watchlists.
One thing I really enjoyed in other some trading apps is the ability to sort watchlist stocks by sector. This eases my OCD and allows me to find stocks on my watchlist easily.
This would be great. Collapsible sections for sectors would be great and make me feel less weird about having a million companies on my watchlist.
Totally agree with this!
Agree with the OP. My watchlist contains over 25 different names and it’s hard to juggle.
