Freetrade AMA on Clubhouse, Wed 17th Feb, 6 PM

I think there’s still a lot of people happy to test out the clubhouse format too - for obvious reasons aren’t as vocal

Be sure to ask the question so people can vote on it for the Ama. but to note, they’ve been communicating about that for weeks as well.

I like the idea…

Post in questions might not be the best format for the platform. It’s much better when you have conversations around topics and questions flow instinctively from the room and that way you can build on ideas and prospective.

That’s just my experience having witness some great conversations from prominent founders, investors and experts sharing the stage.

Questions should be asked live ideally not listed on a thread … but is there a concern people will go off topic or just rant ?

I think the platform allows for moderation? and you can pull people in and out as speakers? So it could be a mix of both, a few topics here to get the ball rolling and maybe pull people in for questions they have?

My question is why even as a plus member as some investments not availible within a sipp

Worth a read

Questions for the AMA:

  • How’s the EU launch / BETA going?

  • Any features that are currently being worked on that you’re excited about?

  • After the mass onboarding from the GME saga, What are your learnings & how will this change out you operate?

  • Finally any update on Crypto or Australia?

Hi Sam could I be invited please?

I am explicitly excluded from participating in the AMA, since the event is restricted to iPhone owners. I feel put out by that, and therefore not inclined to put much effort into engaging from my side. But ok, I will rephrase my point in the form of a few questions:

  1. Could you please talk us through how Freetrade coped with the surge in customer demand of the past few weeks. I think it would be an interesting story for us to hear about what it was like from your side as hundreds of thousands of people joined! What worked well, what didn’t, and why? What lessons have been learned and what is being done to improve customers’ experiences in the future, and to win back the confidence of those whose expectations have not been met?

  2. We have seen here in the forum an influx of new users who know very little about stock markets. Freetrade is an execution-only broker and cannot advise customers, but it is clearly in Freetrade’s interests for customers to be well-informed about what they are buying and about what they can expect. Is Freetrade thinking about anything it can do to support the education of new users?

Hey Sam I want one as well!! Thank you in advance

I was explicitly excluded from their community meetup because of where they decided to run it.

Anyway they’ve said they plan to do a zoom as well so no one is really excluded

Good questions btw

Another question.

IPOs? Is there an appetite for Freetrade to offer IPOs either directly or via a third party like PrimaryBid? (Not secondary market post IPO launch availability that I know you’ve been working on improving). If so what’s the goal Freetrade want to achieve? I’ve noticed PrimaryBid offering more and more IPOs and Freetrade is currently one of the only brokers not listed as supported on their platform.

I’d be interested in knowing average portfolio size across basic/Plus/SIPP accounts and the number of users that have subscribed for the Plus and SIPP.

  • Do you plan to introduce a JISA (ideally with one account managing an ISA and a JISA)?

  • Any plans to improve the UI (esp. graphs and 1D, 1M, 1Y % changes in Investments / Watchlist)?

  • Any plans to introduce price offers on Instant Orders with the ability to accept/reject the offer?

  • In the light of Wall Street Bets Reddit activity, what is your take on the legality of groups of retail investors discussing trading individual stocks en masse?

Another question I would like to ask…

I’d like to think that growth will be good… can you talk about whether the influx of new customers in the past few weeks will help Freetrade accelerate development of features and services? Do more users just produce enough revenue to cover their support costs, or do they produce a surplus that can be used for development? And if so, when might we expect to begin seeing the benefits of growth?

I hope someone will be able to report back to those of us who can’t attend.

Is crypto coming, and if so - when?

They’ve hired someone recently with crypto in the job title, can’t remember exactly but it must be on the cards.

LISA, LISA, LISA… will Freetrade be launching it’s LISA during the coming tax year or should those of us who have on with another provider keep on investing in the one we have?

It’s ok if it’s not on the near term roadmap, it would just help with planning ahead
