Freetrade Investor Business Update

Do you know anyone else that gives direct access to treasury bonds?

There’s plenty of ETF’s you can use to invest in treasury bonds. Don’t think anyone requested this feature and don’t think the Freetrade team cares at this point.

It’s obvious the bottom line is the only thing that matters at the moment, but imo they will lose their customers in the pursuit of cash. I am amongst the first 100 people on the platform, been here since the early waiting lists, investor since R2, so I do have direct interest in Freetrade succeeding.

But ever since they’ve gotten the round B and C outside investments and the Gamestop surge theh just don’t care about what their customers think and their platform is just slowly but surely losing their competitive edge.

It’s reached to the point I haven’t put any new investments in the platform for over a year and use other providers for my investments as Freetrade’s offer is just out of touch and not competitive at all to the market atm.

They had the chance to capture a huge market across Europe for young investors, got a huge boost from Gamestop memestock frenzy combined with people staying at home with disposable income. And yet they fumbled at every single step of the way.

Hopefully they turn it around, but at this point I just don’t see this happening. Still have my biggest portfolio with Freetrade, but I just don’t see much of an improvement for the last couple years.

Out of curiosity what features for you are still missing on FT or in which area they have become less competitive?

Despite that no one here on the forum requested it specifically, it turns out to be very popular among the top bought securities in the app

Features- wise I am not really picky at all and like the interface. The problem comes from the fact their fees are not competitive at all to the likes of 212, investengine, vanguard and soon robinhood aswell.

Even functionality- wise they never really implemented the pies system that was requested on here like 3 years ago.

I’m not even sure if they have implemented much at all since Ian left tbf, bar the treasury feature. Web interface that is still in beta and the rest of the app is more or less the same since launch.

Again, I hope they succeed and I do have direct interest in them doing so, but I really just don’t see it at this point despite all the headwinds they had.

Yep! Treasuries will probably be the top holding on Freetrade and possibly in under a year since launch. It’s always near top of the buys list and it isn’t a holding which people will be trading i.e. few will be selling in the same week (unlike say Tesla), so on a net basis it’s presumably top since launch

The community didn’t request it, but we’ve seen many comments requesting to have it in an ISA. It’ll be more popular once it’s available there and the argument around the community not requesting it goes away.

Yeah I expect it will continue to do well, and more so if they get it in an ISA product (can it go I an investment isa or would it be another type?)

Should provide another revenue as well which is good for platform

Hello @acamp. Will we be able to enjoy reading the Business update over this long weekend?

Thanks.

I appreciate that as investors we all want an update and to know how the company is doing.

Perhaps my viewpoint is different but unless the news is regarding a liquidity event what does it mean to me anyway, even if performance is good or bad I can’t liquidate my position and I write off every penny I invest into crowdfunded companies until I get a return.

I think if you wanted reliable quarterly news crowdfunding is probably not for you.

Its obviously fun to get numbers and dream about your gains but even if they 10x tomorrow it doesn’t mean it will be 10x at IPO or any other liquidity event :person_shrugging:

I’d love to @Dashriprock but unfortunately we’re waiting for a couple of final bits to be confirmed. The good news is that we’ll have an update on Q1’24 too which has been good so far. We’ll have a clear view on that by the end of next week, so I’d expect the update dropping shortly after that if not a bit sooner.

Appreciate the patience  Have a great long weekend!

I completely disagree with what you have said.

I cannot recall anyone mention they are looking for a quarterly update. What we are looking for is an update to see how Freetrade are progressing. It was @acamp that suggested the Biannual update.

Lots of users here are also investors, so are keen to see how their investment is coming along.

As for crowdfunding in general, don’t presume you know what anyone else’s circumstances are.

Your last paragraph. Do you think you are talking to some school kid. We know crowdfunding is risky and may never get a return on our investment.

Unfortunately not…it’s at the top of the buy list because technically all TBIlls are repurchased once a week. It’s the same money rebuying that weeks Tbills not new money.

Actually it’s a mix! Most weeks the new buys alone would put treasury bills at the top of the most bought list (this week included) and the bills that are rolling over is just some extra on top.

People should be happy with treasuries, regardless of whether they are interested in them or not, since it creates another revenue stream for Freetrade and puts them on the path to profitability

Also gives them a unique product. Next up mutual funds I hope, while not unique, most of the neo-brokers don’t offer them and likely won’t for some time

Apologies is if it came across that way, I’m also invested as stated.

Regardless I knew my opinion on it would be polarising and people are entitled to disagree which is perfectly fine.

No problem

We are all hoping Freetrade can offer us an exit at some point in the future.

Enjoy the long weekend.

I don’t think there is any doubt that the share price will be at least Ā£10 when they IPO in 2025. IF they don’t do a reverse stock split BEFORE the IPO to entice more investors!

Just out of question what is it that makes you so confident on the 10 pound IPO price I think I’ve seen you post about in the past. Have you done some sort of DCF or Multiples valuation?

If so I imagine many of the users here would like to see it!

I think 2025 is a fair time horizon for an IPO provided rate cuts happen this year if not its probably 2026 if were wanting to get the ā€œBestā€ price rather than a quicker exit. I also wonder if Freetrade will go for a US listing or a LSE one
