Anyone know how much FT has raised from crowdcube vs how much from funds?
VCs take the highest risk of us all and are often investing hundreds of thousands into companies that are just starting out or may not even have a product yet vs us later investors who are taking risks in an already established company.
If Freetrade had failed or underperformed as a company, then those VCs would have taken a far bigger hit than we have. Would you have then felt that was also unfair?
Not hit would have been lower in % terms given the lower valuation⦠VCs get lower price entry and added protection it just is what it is.
itās more about the unfair treatment⦠if we were all getting a shit deal i wouldnāt mind but the fact that VCās are getting over twice as much per share reeks of typical selfish āpublicise loss, privatise gainsā with the public getting fucked so viktor and the VCs can laugh all the way to the bank.
Why would I continue to give my business to a company that put me in that situation ?
They took a choice to sell the business at 50-60x forward earnings⦠versus average FTSE multiples of what, 20-25x. Pretty good in the context of the market, and massively ramping up competition which vastly more resources.
Iāve invested in 2019 and a few time since then. Theyāve had my money for almost 6 years, and now am leaving with a massive loss. I wouldnāt even be upset - investing has risks. BUT it was the communication since 2019! I was so sure my shares are worth more than that. The message was always: itās doing so well, we will go public. And now it was sold for absolute peanuts. Never will I ever invest inti anything that is associated with Adam or Victor.
B Investor here - so Iām ~50% on the acquisition. Definitely leaves a sour taste to exit so low, seriously though - where do I move to?
Nutmeg was bought by JP Morgan and still acts as a separate entity. You do see mention of JP Morgan to make it clear theyāre the parent company. Thereās no reason to assume at this stage that Freetrade will have a rebrand.
A very simple question - were there any offers that offered a better price?
To post 2020 investors, was there an EIS? If so, perhaps worth checking if there is a loss relief claimable. Iāve claimed loss relief before but only on companies that went bust. I donāt really know how it works with partial loss.
So glad I didnāt get tempted into the recent promotion to upgrade to Plus otherwise I would be tied into another year. Very skeptical of the timing of that offer also when they knew this outcome was likely. Waiting to see if T212 offer a 1% offer again as will be seriously considering a full transfer.
EIS had to be taken at the time and so even if it was available if the relevant forms were not completed it is irrelevant now but I believe 2020 was the final time EIS was available.
Are these numbers adjusted for inflation?
Noā¦anything after May 2018 is a REAL TERMS loss for investors (ex. EIS relief).
Iāve invested via Crowdcube on multiple occasions, as outlined below. Yet Iām still making a big loss here. Kinda puts a sour taste in my mouth.
June 2019 - £100 - 105 shares
May 2020 - £100.40 - 40 shares
June 2023 - £26 - 10 shares
Total of Ā£226.40 and 155 shares. The email says Iāll get back around Ā£184.45. Is that correct?
You only got put in that situation because you decided to take a massive risk and invested in the product. If you havenāt invested would you still have considered leaving? Again youāre entitiled to those feelings, and not to sound harsh but like all of us youāve only got yourself to blame for your losses. Hell Freetrade could have gone bankrupt or never floated/been bought out so you would have lost everything you put into them, but at least weāre getting something back.
Again I personally left Freedtrade a long time ago because I was unhappy with the platform as a customer regardless of whether I made or lost money by investing in the product. My investment in the platform had no bearing on that.
I think it is unkind and unhelpful to post āI left so stop complainingāā¦
People are entitled to feel aggrieved even if losses are to be expected from crowdfund raises.
Can you share where you moved to and are you happy with the new platform?
There was EIS on some of the earlier rounds, and someone did post a link about claiming more relief in a situation like this (which is some welcome news at least), although I need to look into it more to see if Iām eligible and how Iād go about claiming for it.
I invest in 2019 & 2020 and am going to make a loss of £900. That is just scandalous. After all the hype all the years. Not even to come out with £1 of profit. I have stopped investing in crowdfunding a few years ago, but this will now make sure I never dip into it again.
