Greencoat UK 💨 - UKW

Same here the next buy will get me under a 1.19 average and I’m happy with that. Won’t be buying for a while though.
The final year results for the company are due 27 Feb judging by the drop in share price I’m guessing they expect it to be bad news but I guess we will find out soon either way. The share buyback programme must at least have yielded a cash flow saving surely?
I expect if the board are happy and believe the company can meet its financial obligations a further buyback seems like a no brainer at these share prices

I don’t expect any bad news. All renewables have fallen. DORE is a possible exception.
The dividend is 9.35% for what is considered the lowest risk renewable.
10 year Gilts are trading at 4.3%(I think)
On a risk reward basis that suggests that ukw is very high risk.
“the market can remain irrational for longer than you can remain solvent” according to Keynes.
In the case of the renewables unless you have borrowed money you should be able to sit it out … forever!

3p today finally some growth and just in time for the dividend payment :).

Gutted yesterday I didn’t top up in the morning, was gonna sell some tech :joy::rofl: still this is great to see and I find myself wanting another pull back to top up again, oh how the tables have turned.

Oh no we jinxed it lol. Maybe I will buy some more after all. Roll on results day tommorow

Topped up to 9094 shares now, target 10000. Looking forward to results tomorrow, hope they announce a further buyback.

Nice. I’m at 3400 at the moment but will be building up more as funds allow.

Interesting we start up this morning. I read the results they weren’t spectacular I’m particularly concerned over the reducing cash pile they have.
On the positive side they have announced another 100 million buyback so they must be confident this year will be good.
I don’t think I will ever truly understand the logic of the stock market.

I tend to watch the investor presentations as I feel when they explain everything, it’s easier to get a picture of what has happened and what they expect to happen moving forward. TRIG is dipping today, maybe on UKW result comments, who knows. Let’s see where she is at the end of today.

Just topped up to hit 10,000 shares .

Next step 20k? :joy:

Well done Willie congrats on the milestone :). Is this your biggest holding?

Buyback makes sense given the SP below NAV, this seems to be where they think money is best allocated.

It’s joint with TRY, with TRIG not far behind. My pension is purely global tracker, but with my ISA I just can’t seem to stick with passive stuff so am loading up on discounted income trusts, might not be optimal but I love getting that income.

Especially as we’ve seen disposals getting NAV, showing all the discount isn’t warranted.

Reducing shares will reduce the dividend liability.

Yep, dividend cover should increase- less shares seems like the way forward. I’m 50/50 on buying some more or waiting for a turn in the sector. Surely the risks are legislation in the UK on power prices and what interest rates will be and the rest is upside, bar some kind of fusion power discovery.

I don’t know how to share the link from the article, I’m such a tit sometimes

Do you reckon this rise is due to dividend payment day or are we seeing a recovery in this share. Either way I would be happy if we get to the 1.15 mark.

I personally think it’s more certainty on the nav, we’ve had TRIG and UKW report last week and we finally know the NAVs and guidance. It feels like a low point for these shares going by the past, they feel like a good hedge against low rates.

Meaning if rates continue to come down, these ‘bond proxies’ should rerate higher.

If rates stay high and even increase, these will suffer but you can get decent yield from cash instruments.

The don’t think any debt refinancing is due soon either.

I’ve topped up a few more recently now at a respectable 100 per quarter dividend.

Happy days I’ll probably keep on buying at this price
