Nutmeg Crowdfunding on Crowdcube

How much of that is institutional investors compared to individuals?

I’m not sure how to know this, but the largest investment is something like Ā£500k

Freetrade took a million in just over a minute with the highest possible pledge £50,000. The load will have been much greater

I didn’t open account with them after I started to use FT and as I can see that some of their existing customers are planning to move to FT, I wouldn’t be investing a single penny into them . Why should I when valuation is rocket high, no EIS and especially FT R5 is round the corner …it is a no brainer to invest for me to invest into R5 again than Nutmeg :boom:

They did a video on Why Nutmeg won’t ā€˜do a Woodford’ with your money. I’ve not seen it, sounds a bit clickbaity. Woodford is turning into quite a topic for Nutmeg. After all the billions have to go somewhere.

Seems like Nutmeg has crashed Crowdcube by announcing they are closing their round today at 1pm.

Screenshot of Crowdcube timing out

Working for me at the moment. There are a lot of incredibly angry posts in the discussions section

That’s strange because every other site I try, including this one works fine for me. Maybe the server my requests are being routed to has crashed.

Yeah I saw that, mainly about a lack of financials.

That is strange. Interestingly it appears Nutmeg may have raised more capital than they have shares to distribute…

All seems a little strange to me, there seems to be no clear reason for them to crowdfund at all except perhaps the publicity.

Cloudflare, a service the helps power a lot of big websites (incl. ours) went down, and that’s affecting Crowdcube right now.

Freetrade’s app, website, and this forum work fine. Cloudflare’s status page mentions a possible route leak but that doesn’t seem to be impacting their UK nodes. Whatever the case hopefully it will be resolved for Freetrade’s campaign tomorrow.

EDIT - Crowdcube’s site is working again. Cloudflare still have their route leaks issue.

I still don’t get NutMeg - was an early adopter of them when they just launched at which point they were revolutionary, but they have hardly evolved in their approach and now already feel outdated to me.

By outdated do you mean they have fees?

I think for some the product does work - I used to use them and now only use them for my LISA
but some people would like to set and forget

(You could argue an ETF is this, and I would completely agree hence I am on Freetreade now)

Not just the fees. Fees will be levied somehow in whatever business model gets applied - some call them charges, some performance fees, some make money through micro-transactions for insta-trades.

It’s just that their fees are high for what you get from them, which are pretty average funds, wrapped in a decent UI but one that in my eyes looks outdated as well.

It’s just that they ask you the tired old risk appetite questions, then give you the options of a number of box standard funds based on risk profile, and subsequently passively manage them with most investment decisions being ratified by a human committee. And for that you pay.

In my mind you’re better off with an ETF, via FreeTrade or elsewhere. What NutMeg are busy doing is digitising an old-fashioned Blockbuster store, rather than inventing the next Netflix.
